Tone2 ElectraX - simply Unlimited!

We are pleased to present our new sonic warrior: ElectraX!

ElectraX means not only having four powerful synthesizers in one interface - it's the next generation of high-end audio equipment.

Explore the vast musical universe of multi-synthesis oscillators, analog modeled filters, chaotic fractals, samples, psychoacoustic processing, flexible modulation and an immense sonic range.
Combine multiple polyphonic or monophonic synthesizers and 13 different synthesis methods to create incredible results.
All this comes with an easy-to-use interface, high-end sound quality and remarkable low CPU usage for an instrument as feature-rich as ElectraX.
The comfortable preset management provides instant access to a large library of sounds by professional designers.

Oscillators

At the heart of ElectraX are the multi-synthesis oscillators with up to 18 oscillators per voice. With ElectraX you combine classic synthesis types like Virtual Analog, FM, Phase Distortion, Ultrasaw, Sync, Waveshaping, Wavetables, AM, and completely new oscillator types. It also opens unheard acoustic possibilities with its exclusive Fractal synthesis, which can be used to mimic the behaviour of organisms or analog circuits.

Samples and Wavetables

You can use ElectraX' sample oscillator to import your own waves, a quick import option is available to create custom patches or vocoder sounds based on your own samples with a mouse click.
ElectraX ships with a large selection of licensed wave content, including morphable analog and digital wave types.
In addition to this you can automatically resynthesize your own waveforms from samples or import custom wavetables.

Filters

Each synth's filter section consists of two multi-mode filters with 23 unique filter types and multi-mode distortion.
ElectraX comes with excellent analog modeled filters, high precision digital filters, vocal filters, comb filters, phasers, equalizers and other exotic types.
The warm sounding filters are able to self oscillate and deliver a wide range of timbres due to the variable degree of analog behavior.
A dual distortion unit offers six different modes. It can produce tube sound ,known from analog pre-amp boxes, model a fuzzbox or do waveshaping

Effects

ElectraX' master and insert effects sections include 18 high quality effect processor, built and fine-tuned specifically to compliment the synth's sound such as: High-end Reverb, Multitap Delay, Vocoder, Chorus, Ensemble, Phaser, Flanger, Rotary, Surround encoder, Trancegate,...

Modulation

ElectraX' modulation makes use of punchy, analog sounding envelopes. Its high quality LFOs are syncable to BPM and can modulate up to the audible range. You can create rhythmic sequences or custom wave shapes with the step LFO.
The flexible Modulation Matrix is easy-to-use and provides a good and instant overview of the active modulations.
With the built-in 'midi-learn' feature it is possible to assign controllers with a single click.

Arpeggiator

One preset setup can handle up to four full featured synthesizers with four independent arpeggiators and step sequencers. The arpeggiator supports autochord, swing, glide and keyboard splitting. This allows you to create impressive sequences with several instruments playing at the same time, providing a creative and hands-on experience for a life performance.

The demo's really crippled though. So that's a shame.

Really crippled.

Agreed.

Having a problem with the AU in Logic where all playback is giving me some distorted feedback.

The demo worked fine for me, tried it a few hours yesterday. However, I think the Gladiator is superior to the Electrax. It sound really plastic IMO. And the price is too steep for having another trance machine.
There are some cool features what I can hear and see, but I think I made the right decision to buy Dune

Cool

I was a bit meh, in the beginning but after trying the demo for some time now I'm getting tempted. Samples + FM + wave tables in an unholy alliance can make some serious noise.
The mp3 demo and most presets are not really my cup of tea (and the gui is another story), but behind all that there is a quite cool synth.

In Gladiator 2 there is a randomiser which creates really nice esoteric sounds. I just love it.

The demo is insultingly crippled; but it was enough for me to see what it's capable of, so I couldn't help but buy it. This synth sounds AMAZING; Tone2 definitely just set the bar really, really high.

However....

They released this synth blatantly BROKEN.

The bugs that made it past beta testers are astounding. You can't SAVE a newly written Logic document without it crashing. So you must make sure to save any Untitled new project first before opening up an instance of ElectraX. Also, from that point on you can't "SAVE AS" after opening another instance of it. Your stuck saving over the same document. The work around is either never "save as", or, after Logic crashes from trying to "save as", the auto-created (crashed) document can be opened after re-starting Logic and saving that document thru "save as." What a pain. How the heck does something that fundamental slip thru the beta process?????

If you open, close, and open the GUI it crashes. There are other random crashes as well were I have yet to narrow down the source to repeat it; I've only had the full version for 4 hours now...

These bugs are just so blatant and basic it makes ya wonder if during the whole beta process prior to it's scheduled release, the programmer was more concerned about crippling the demo and sending you to their website every 10 minutes other than fixing things with the actual FULL product.

Overall I can't stop playing it and getting to know it better. I have to adjust for the current situation and literally save every 30 secs knowing a crash WILL come. So yeah, needless to say this synth is a private affair and can't be trusted in any situation where you're with a client.

They pulled the trigger too quick with v1.0. I've basically paid $200 to beta test until the next update comes.

I'd be more pissed off if I weren't an experienced beta tester of other software over the years, that and the fact that under all the bugs, this really is a very, very special monster of a synth. Make no mistake this ain't Gladiator2, and it's not merely another "trance machine." Don't let the reverb and delay drenched presets give you that false impression. It's definitely digital sounding, and uniquely so; that's a good thing for what this instrument can bring to the party. Also, for something so tweakable and complex, it's actually very easy and intuitive to design patches from scratch. If you know your sound design and synth A B C's, they actually laid things out pretty intelligently considering the vast amount of options.

By this time next year this should be really stable, and a growing user base will have contributed enough diverse patches were nay sayers and "patch" users will truly get what this synth is capable of.

So buyer beware; if your not experienced with troubleshooting and have no patience, hold off till they get this guy fixed. Your not going to be too happy about throwing down $200 for something broken. If your a complete geek like myself; your just gonna say f*ck it and buy it anyways 'cause it's that good.

this synth is great...with a little work. don't buy it if you're not a "tweaker"

I def got some producer friends of mine who are "on" asking me how I got certain sounds. Electra is no joke!
