elysia alpha compressor plugin: Public Beta out now!

Hi guys,

We are proud to release the latest result of our software cooperation with Brainworx today: the alpha compressor plugin!
A lot of work went into this, and we are very happy with the result.
If you are looking for a truly sophisticated and powerful software compressor, this one is for you.

In our opinion, the compression section alone is such a useful tool that we have decided to include a dedicated mixing version with a reduced interface.
You might want to use this on every single track of your DAW...

Versions:
There is only going to be a single license version - including the master and mix version for PC and Mac in RTAS, VST, AU and also TDM and Venue formats.
The 14 days unlimited free trial works without an iLok, the full license needs an iLok, however.

Availibility:
The free public beta version in RTAS, VST and AU for Mac and PC is available right now. TDM and Venue will be added very soon. Sales will start on December 1st.

Pricing:

We have rethought our pricing policy and will offer the alpha compressor plugin in all formats for $299. And yes, there will be an introductory discount as well.
There will be a significant price drop for the mpressor plugin starting December 1st, too. Finally, there is also going to be a bundle of the alpha and the mpressor.

The manual is available for your reference, and we have provided some sound samples as well. A video should be online pretty soon.
Please let us know what you think about it... and now have lots of fun checking it out!

Oh my god !

This one will find it's place on my go-to mastering chain for sure together with the SPL Passeq plugin anytime soon !

Now let's hope to see a plugin version of the museeq next year ;-) !

Haven't A/Bed it with our hardware unit, but my first impression from memory is that the plug does come pretty close to the real thing. You even captured the subtle saturation you get when driving the make up gain very high, and a little softclip goes a long way....

dfegad..... that's me pissing my pants... if this thing comes even remotely close to the hardware unit then we've got a serious contender for the new 2buss/mastering comp of choice.... that is... when clients don't have a 'real' mastering budget (which unfortunately is all too often).

Count me in for sure! This does fill a void for me, for mastering purposes especially. The new pricing incl. TDM is brilliant!!!

Wow. Just by looking at the interface, I couldn't find one feature I could possibly miss using this tool.
And if it comes close to the mpressor soundwise, you got me.
GUI is definitely a thing of beauty and I really dig the idea of having a dedicated channel- version with a boiled- down interface.
All thumbs up for you guys!

Only gripe is the GUI seems to be doing a number on my eyes , maybe its the combination of colors or my eyes are just screwed ...........

Ok now THIS is beautiful... I adored the mPressor plugin already..
This one made me jump on the chair, Elysia makes absolutely great gear and plugins
The alpha looks like a very complex compressor to use, not mean this in a bad way, quite the opposite
I've never tried one myself but always looked at it with so much interest, also it looks absolutely cool
look forward to learn how to use it!

I couldn't think about a better piece to be "digitalized"! Awesome!

i guess the reason for the question was elysia is lowering the price of mpressor and ll sell mpressor as a bundle with alpha, so those who bought mpressor should get a discount on alpha.

Damn.....

I dont post much anymore but it is my slut duty to say that this
is my favorite software comp by a wide margin.....

This thing has a very strong hardware character I.E. none of the plastic
I normally hear in plugins.

Wow! Great job.

It seems like the "Soft Clip" function stay in L/R whatever the M/S button position.

Instead of being able to Soft Clip the Side channel, it Soft Clip the Right Channel, even if all the rest affect the Side Channel as intended.

Anybody else got the same problem ?

EDIT : that's ok, i just find in the manual that the SoftClip comes after the M/S Decoder.
i was just surprised when trying to soft clip the side channel.

very good compressor !

+1

As a TDM Mpressor user i think it would be perfect if there will be an upgrade discount to the bundle with Alpha.

I will try this ASAP, but i'm sure it will be excellent.

And thanks to Elysia to include now the TDM for the same price as Native.

So, other than the added functionality, are there any sonic differences between the mpressor and the alpha?

Yeah there are, the Alpha sounds much better as a buss compressor I find.

the hardware units differ in the following way (assume the software is very similar):

The alpha has a straight frequency response, while we have included a mellow roll-off of high frequencies in the mpressor in order to influence its sound (this can be changed to a straight frequency response, however).

While the alpha produces a very clean make-up gain, the mpressor adds rising THD values on higher gain settings.
