They actually showed this earlier in the year, but now he's announced a shipping date of January. Yay!

Very nice features , AMI transformer and a very good price . I dig the smooth switch to give the sound of a module in a console and the metering . Do they have a site ?

Interesting that they went with a 2RU design.
Unfortunately, that's probably a deal breaker for me.

Does anyone know if this uses a wall wart power supply?

They had it at Sweetwater's Gear Fest this summer. Hard to tell the quality in a setting like that but certainly promising!

Might get to try this out this week. Probably cut some vocals on it. Mike K mentioned that the variable impedance knob might roll off the top of the CV4 a little bit. Love to try that.

Here are some VERY quick samples...My apologies to Chris DeBurgh and all people that like shit sung in tune...

Really...this is bad...but it might give you some ideas

It's the CV4 through the MPA201 into the APOLLO...40db with the output halfway...this way you can hear the pre a little more.

1. impedance 1200
2. impedance 300
3. imp 1200 with SMOOTH engaged
4. imp 1200 with UA 1176 Bluestripe

Remember, I'm not trying to win a grammy with this...Don't shoot the messenger.

Man...This pre sounds sweeeeet! imp 1200 sounds great.

Apollo converter with this pre sounds great. How are the knobs on it?

Mine should be here soon!

I thought the smooth button added a nice little bump in the bottom. Pulling the impedance down to 300 ohm seemed to roll off some top - which this probably needs. Didn't realize it would reduce the volume - so its not level matched. There's a 600 ohm setting as well...
Really seemed like this thing had tons of headroo, but you can get nice and dirty cranking input and pulling down output.
its a quality piece and feels well made. I have to be honest, I'm not crazy about the looks...I know that's shallow, but so be it. I could get over it though. Kinda looks like an M-Audio Tampa. I'll record some guitar through it when I get a chance.

JohnKenn you're nuts man! Always got the new gears! Clips sound great! Thanks for posting! As someone else mentioned 2RU is too much real estate for that for me.

Sounds great! So do you think it has that Neve sort of saturation going on ?

Can we hear the dry source without the reverb ?

Well damn...Here are two examples. It's a CV4 through a Heritage 1073/500 and a CV4 through a Miktek MPA201. Both at 30db with the output pulled back a smidge on the MPA in order to volume match. Sorry for not tuning

Can you tell the difference? Not sure I can...

Actually preferred B. It sounded a little more gainy though!

They are really close but I like A better.

To me A sounds little more refined with just a tad more highs. I hope A is the Miktek

BTW - the MPA has a "smooth" button that I think makes it sound even better...of course it wasn't engaged. Also has different impedance selections that roll off the top.

Ex. A - Heritage
Ex. B - MPA

Thanx for posting these samples johnkenn, ex.A does sounds a tad bit better to my ears at least. Glad to hear it held its own against the miktek! You really made it an easy decision for me when searching for that "neve sound" thanx to you posts on these threads. Good looking out my man!

And now all i need is my main tracking compressor preferably for 500 format but im open to others...Lately ive been looking at Acme audio's Opticom, Purple MC77, but for 500 format theres the ShadowHills optograph/vandergraph, BAC 500, the AML 2254 clone looks promising...what have you tried and would recommend?
