Yea well at least the download speed doesn't just constantly say "soon"...

I'm kind of interested to try this Nebula thing, even though that means I'd only be able to try it in Logic for the time being.

The "Features" page of the bundle is titled : " Stealing from the rich to give to the poor "

Hope you won't complain when your "products" will be stolen in turn to be given to the "poor".

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS: Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Mac OS Tiger/Leopard. Nebula is compatible with all major DAW host programs and .Wav editor programs that support VST technology.

Now...where is the tiger installer?

AcquaVox works only under 10.5.

So, after so long hearing about Nebula, I finally had the chance to try it (at least for the built-in libraries, which I assume are less quality than the commercial ones).

I took my latest commercial release, I plugged 7 Nebula instances on selected key elements of the mix (4 synth tracks, voice, bass, and master) with different presets from input channels that came with the free version (since I was so curious to make the comparison, I chose quickly and a little bit randomly).

Result after bouncing with & without and matching volume and making blind tests: Nebula was a clear step change, and I felt that now I didn't want to go back. I am really eager to see the full Nebula 3 release and check the commercial libraries. Still, even the built-in ones were quite impressive.

The drawback is that this looks heavily addicting and I can see myself using plenty of instances. In that case, I'm gonna need to freeze so many tracks that my 2010 MBP will soon be called "the refrigerator" ;-) To be fair, I have to say that it didn't consume as much CPU as I expected... a bit of a hog, but worth it.

Only thing that can prevent me from using Nebula on each channel at this point would be that Sountoys Juice is so good that I feel I don't need anything else to provide the 'analog console effect'. I am aware that Nebula is way more than 'analog summing' but having already plugins like Lex Native Bundle, Waves Q-Clone, most (if not all) ITB compressors, etc… I am not sure I will feel in a need to use so many instances ("the refrigerator" coming again to my mind). In any case, Nebula is from today a very nice addition to my arsenal and I congratulate their developers for such an achievement!

P.S.--> GUI is horrible and my Logic 9 crashed once for the first time in months... but still worth it!

welcome to everybody that is able to give nebula a shot finally!
i'm using it for quite a while now and just want to mention

- yes, once you're on it, it's not possible to go back
- yes, it's about the commercial libraries (big quality difference)
- try the EQs!!!! there are free demos for some stuff, for example the pultec by cdsoundmaster, where you get low, mid and high boosts. i promise you - once you heard that you will know what the fuzz is about

i have to admit, nebula changed my workflow, but also in a good way. i often use eq on group tracks first, get a good overall sound and work on individual tracks later. sometimes i just need a couple of gates, filters and comps for the individual drum tracks.
console channels are a strictly offline thing, tho...

have fun!

Is the commercial AU version available yet? Or is it still in beta?

Have been looking forward to checking out Nebula for a while now due to all the glowing reviews and finally got to install and hear it today.

I haven't gone in too deep with it yet but my initial impression is that it sounds great! The EQ boosts are what has stood out the most to me so far, very musical, nice work!! A little bit of latency and a fairly hefty CPU load, but I'm not going to complain about those issues with something I got for free.

I had a look at Home :: nebula-programs.com in search of more free stuff and have a question for the Nebula guys.. how can I tell which free 3rd party libraries are able to be imported into Nebula Free?

Every 3rd party dev has a slightly different approach for their free presets but basically they will state what they release as "free" or "demo".
"Demo presets" are limited in some way and are free but are usually not able to be used in Nebula free. But a "Free preset" could be fully functioning and/or be a demo that can be used in Nebula free. But again, this is usually stated clearly by the dev; pretty simple to follow.

About AU, only nebula3 free au was released officially. Soon we'll upload the setup/upgrade AU for nebula3 commercial.

yes they download libraries from a different provider, box.net, which is pretty fast in almost every country.

Actual nebula3 free files are hosted on lunarpages, sometimes download speed is slow (it depends on your country). Nebula3 commercial is just a small download, so lunarpages is fine in such case.

If I ran a software company with such needs (and such growing following) I'd use Amazon's S3 services. Top notch, and scalable

Yes, it's possible we'll switch to S3. At the moment box.net is enough good. Lunarpages is there just for little uploads, nebula3 free is just an exception (but it's free). If you can't download just contact us, we'll provide a direct link to a faster server.

I thought I was safe with tiger until 1 1/2 half years ago. Leopard was WAY better to be honest. you wouldn't regret it...I even upgraded to snow leopard 2 or 3 weeks ago.....no problems so far...

go for it! thumbsup

Go to HD/Library/Audio/Presets/Acustica Audio/Nebula
there's the Programs and Vectors Folder.
.N2P go in the Prog Folder. .N2V go into the Vector folder...

done!
