I've readed a post by Giancarlo stating that he and Velinas were working a "serious compression sampling" i don't know if by that they mean a new sampling technique/technology or the Neve 2254 library. Haven't heard the 2254 program yet so i can't comment if it behaves better than the old comp programs.

There's also the new Core III Engine being developed at the moment which on Giancarlo's own words is: " It will be the best sound engine of ever. a true revolution for actual nebula users, soundwise. "

Well i haven't heard anything else touch Nebula yet (PreAmp, EQ, Console and Tape wise) now with this new engine in the works.. OMFGD i think i'm gonna have trouble sleeping at night!

Bought it and love it

This compressor has some serious Mojo going on and is so 3D its not going to work on all sources just like the original but it really brings something nice to the party.

Yeah this compressor rocks - sounds very real and analogue. Punchy and deep...but it is a 2254 as said above not for everything due to its timing character....but amazing to have it in the box for €20!!!

fantastic color and a smooth sound. one more compressor erased from my "to buy again" list.

Nebula, The best money saver.

Having been playing around with this today, am very impressed indeed. I've been working @ 96k too, and the ratecnv is working fine, unlike on some of the other compressors. Big thumbs up thumbsup

I used it on vocals, bass and guitar today - very impressive. I automated some fairly dynamic vocals pre-compressor, then took off between 0.5-3db @3:1 ratio with the Fate, and I have to say, it's the most pleasant and solid sounding compressor I have ever used on vocals, either hardware or software - I've never used a compressor that sounds like this before, I want the hardware! A well played bass sounds great through this too, I used a 2:1 ratio averaging about 1.5db gr at 400ms on the DI and cab buss, sounded enormous and solid in with a tighter more percussive bottom end and a bit of extra body in the low mids, the upper mids sounded considerably 'nicer' too. Really looking forward to the 96k version! Fantastic job AITB

I read alot about that and people knowing the hardware very good all say: 2 totally different beasts!

2254 is not as snappy or smacky...more "thickening/coloring"

thx, i thought the 33609 is based on the 2254 circuit
the uad one is smacky and very coloring too, esp. in the 4-8dB GR area plus you can drive the circuit w/o the compr. engaged
would be interesting to put some drums through the nebula-program

Well yes, I always read they have things in common but the search function here on GS brought me to some threads, where the hardware is compared. People say the 33609 is more transparent great for mixbuss duties, while the 2254 more used to smoothen transients, thicken, dull (in pleasant ways) etc.

here's one thread: Neve 33609 vs. 2254R

And remember, there's more than one model of 2254 out there...

I'm out of money ATM, but thank god I bought Nebula earlier in my life!

I'm gonna buy this without demoing it, this is just so cool!

The demo sounds great. Compression isn't Nebula's strongest-suit, but this one sounds natural to me. Great job.

It's just one program.

And - from the .txt:

"Attack: 5ms
Release: 400ms
Ratio: 2:1

Difference to the commercial version 2:1 program:
- Threshold is fixed at -15db.
- Only 3 kernels for harmonics distortion"

I'm actually surprised how good the demo sounded with Nebula 2 but it should also be noted works best with Nebula 3 and Nebula 3 pro.

Welcome to the club. Nebula's a great time. Wonderful sound. I'm a fan of code-based, too. Great to have a variety of tools. Love the CD SoundMaster stuff!

As far as Nebula compressors go, this new one from AnalogInTheBox is my fave.
