The free cross-grade is a good example of looking after your customers.

Duende Native Plugins

It doesn't seem fake to me. It's just that we are not supposed to be able to find it already. Considering the mentioning of "launched in oktober", my guess is that we will find this information online on the real website somewhere in oktober. (no sh!t)

No it doesn't -

SSL's IP address is 88.208.245.48.

I say fake as f**k.

If this were in SSL's plans why release new drivers 2 days ago.

An elaborate hoax indeed.

One of you IT savvy people should check this out, but as far as I can tell, the addresses are with the same ISP, and the one in question is a variation of one listed. What I meant was, if you go to 80.241.69.21 you get SSL's main page. As far as a hoax goes, who would go to all this trouble? BTW, I predicted this, down to the dongle... old posts to prove it. Oh, and if this is a hoax, they should hire the perpetrator and follow the plan!

SSL Console Grade Processing For Your DAW
The Duende Native Plug-in suite is a collection of audio processing tools which bring professional audio quality, sophistication and benchmark performance within reach of all DAW users. Duende plug-ins provide the superior precision, advanced feature set and legendary tonal characteristics of SSL console products in affordable VST/AU/RTAS * plug-in form. They are quite simply the easiest way to get your hands on professional tools that will help you achieve professional mixes that sound like a record.
The foundations of the Duende Native collection are plug-in adaptations of two SSL console classics; the EQ & Dynamics Channel plug-in provides an EQ & Dynamics processing solution with all the power, precision, flexibility and signature tone of an SSL console channel strip… the legendary Stereo Bus Compressor plug-in gives you the classic SSL stereo master bus compressor that brings power and punch to your mix without compromising clarity. Drumstrip and Vocalstrip are ‘task specific’ plug-ins which each gather together a set of carefully selected and lovingly crafted processing tools to get you straight to outstanding Drum and Vocal sounds quickly and easily. X-EQ and X-Comp are both mastering grade processors that deliver superb balance of precision and tonal character. X-Verb is an incredibly powerful and flexible processor which brings beautiful hardware standard Reverb to your DAW.
All Duende Native Plug-ins are available for a free, fully functional initial 30 day demo AND for ongoing periodic free demos. Read More
Duende Native plug-ins are available individually from the SSL web store here. Two bundles; Dunede Native Essentials and the Duende Native Studio Pack are available exclusively from SSL Resellers worldwide. Click Here To find your nearest SSL Reseller.
‘Duende Native’ was launched in October 2010. Duende Native plug-ins are functionally identical to legacy DSP powered Duende plug-ins but they run natively on your host computer. They do not require a Duende hardware unit. Duende Native marks a significant leap in the evolution of the Duende product line… Read More about Duende Native
The legacy DSP based Duende hardware products are no longer manufactured and optional plug-ins for Duende hardware systems have been withdrawn from sale. SSL operates a Free Cross Grade policy which is explained in detail here.
* Duende Plug-ins are provided in VST/AU format with RTAS support via a supplied FXPansion wrapper.

Duende Native
In October 2010 SSL launched ‘Duende Native’. Duende Native plug-ins are functionally and sonically identical to the highly respected legacy DSP powered Duende plug-ins but they run natively on your host computer. They do not require a Duende hardware unit. Duende Native marks a significant change in the evolution of the Duende product line. It has been four years since we first launched Duende and in that time ‘multi-core’ host processing has massively increased the power of personal computers. It is our view that for the vast majority of DAW users, the additional power provided by the DSP in our Duende hardware units is no longer necessary.
Why Go Native?
It is in the nature of technology development that users expect a never ending upward spiral of more power and ever more sophisticated products. SSL plug-ins are sophisticated and power hungry and at the time when Duende DSP launched, computer processors did not have the power required to run them. At the time, the additional DSP in Duende hardware provided a solution. In the last two years the balance has shifted; as users expect even bigger, more powerful systems it is the limitations of the Firewire bus and other internal computer bus architecture which imposes limits to the complexity and number of plug-in instances available. Processor manufacturers continue to develop ever bigger, faster multi-core devices which deliver more than enough power for most users already and look set to continue to stay ahead of demand. SSL does still use DSP extensively within our large scale Digital Consoles, particularly for broadcast where 512 audio channels are not uncommon… but most project studio DAW users do not need this much power. We believe that the future of project studio DAW processing is native so Duende Native marks a strategic change of development strategy to reflect this view. All future development for Duende will be Native.
What does that mean for me and my Duende?
There is never an easy time to make a radical change… and Duende Native IS a radical change. At the same time as releasing Duende Native, SSL is withdrawing from sale all optional plug-ins and channel Upgrades for DSP Duende hardware. SSL will develop no new plug-ins for DSP Duende.
SSL is offering every registered Duende hardware owner a free ‘Cross Grade’ to Duende Native.

Duende Native 'Cross Grades'
It is easy to see that a customer who has invested in a Duende hardware unit might want to continue to benefit from ongoing support and development of new Duende plug-ins. In recognition of this SSL is offering every registered Duende hardware owner a free ‘Cross Grade’ to Duende Native. This web page describes the terms and conditions for eligibility to a free Cross Grade, it describes what we are offering and how to go about applying for a Cross Grade.
Duende Native free Cross Grades are subject to these eligibility conditions;
• If your Duende unit was registered in your Profile at the SSL web site on or before *** you are eligible to claim free Duende Native Licenses equivalent to any Duende plug-ins you own for your Duende hardware unit
• If you register a Duende hardware unit which has not previously been registered at the SSL web site, you are eligible to claim free Duende Native Licenses equivalent to any Duende plug-ins you own for your Duende hardware unit. There is no time limit on this
• If you own a unit which had already been registered at the SSL web site on or before *** you will not be able to re-register it and will not be eligible for a free Cross Grade
• If you have bought any of the optional plug-ins (Drumstrip, Vocalstrip, X-EQ, X-Comp, X-Verb, Bus Compressor for Duende Mini Upgrade) for any model of Duende hardware it will be eligible for a free Cross Grade

Duende Native free Cross Grades are also subject to these additional conditions;
• By accepting the free Cross Grade offer you agree that SSL will no longer support your hardware unit
• If you sell your existing Duende hardware unit, the new owner will not be able to register it, or be eligible for support or be eligible for a free Cross Grade
• The Duende Native copy protection system examines your computer and builds a unique profile of it. As part of the product activation process this information is returned to the SSL Online License Centre to be used in the generation of a Product License that is unique to your computer. By accepting these Terms & Conditions you agree to SSL examining your computer system and holding information about it. If you are unwilling to have your computer profiled in this way you should not install Duende Native. SSL does not examine any personal data, other software installed or any computer use behaviour. SSL will not share any of your data with any third parties
• Each Duende hardware unit and all associated plug-ins will be Cross Graded as a ‘bundle’ in a single transaction. If the Duende Native plug-ins created as part of the Cross Grade are ‘deactivated’ at a later date they will all be deactivated as a bundle

Please read and accept the Duende Native End User License Agreement tick box

Who Gets What?
Subject to Eligibility and agreement to our Terms & Conditions a free ‘Cross Grade’ means;
• Duende Mini, Classic & PCIe hardware units include the ‘EQ & Dynamics Channel’ plug-in as standard so owners of all eligible units can claim a free ‘Duende Native Channel’ license
• Duende Classic and Duende PCIe hardware units include the ‘Stereo Bus Compressor’ plug-in as standard so owners of all eligible units can claim a free ‘Duende Native Bus Compressor’ License
• Owners of optional plug-ins (Drumstrip, Vocalstrip, X-EQ, X-Comp, X-Verb, Bus Compressor for Duende Mini) for eligible units can claim a free Duende Native equivalent License
• If you bought one of our Studio or Expanded Packs and your unit is still eligible you can claim a Duende Native License for each of the plug-ins in your bundle
• If you own more than one Duende hardware unit, providing each individual unit is eligible you get a free Cross Grade for each unit. If you have multiple optional plug-ins registered (IE one for each hardware unit) you can claim a free Cross Grade for each registered instance of each optional plug-in. So if you own two PCIe units, with all 5 optional plug-ins registered for both units… and both units are eligible… you can claim two complete sets of Duende Native Licenses
• In short; everybody who owns an eligible Duende unit gets an equivalent Duende Native plug-in pack 100% for free AND gets to keep their DSP Duende. Everybody who owns multiple eligible Duende units gets multiple plug-in packs

Where is the catch?
There isn’t one. We have changed our future development strategy and think it is the right and proper thing to do to provide our existing customers with an opportunity to benefit from future development. You are not obliged to switch, you can carry on using your DSP Duende but you deserve the choice. It also feels good to reward customer loyalty. This Is SSL. It’s how we do things.

Duende Native 'Cross Grades'
Can I run demo versions of the Duende Native plug-ins before I choose to Cross Grade?
Yes you can. Everybody can get a free 30 day demo license for each Duende Native Plug-in. Note however that when you choose to install the Native version of a Duende DSP plug-in that is already installed on your system, the Native plug-in will overwrite the DSP version. You can perform a system roll back easily though if you wish as described below. Demos are limited to one per host computer.
Will the new Native plug-ins load into my old projects and recognise my saved settings?
Yes. The Duende Native Plug-ins appear to your system as ‘exactly’ the same plug-ins as your DSP versions… your DAW sees your Native plug-in as though it is your old DSP plug-in and loads the saved settings.
Can I use the Duende Native and Duende DSP versions of a plug-in at the same time?
The short answer is no you can’t… but you can use different Duende Native and Duende DSP plug-ins alongside each other on a single system. When you run the Duende Native installer you are prompted to select which Native plug-ins you wish to install. If you choose to install the Native version of a Duende DSP plug-in that is already installed on your system the Native plug-in will overwrite the DSP version.
So can I run a hybrid system with some Duende Native and some Duende DSP plug-ins running side by side?
Yes you can. For users owning older, less powerful computers this may be a sensible approach to take. When you are installing Duende Native simply choose to only install the plug-ins you wish to run as Native versions.
So my Duende hardware will continue to work even after I have Cross Graded?
Yes it will. But as part of the Terms & Conditions of the Cross Grade you must agree that after the Cross Grade; you relinquish any warranty terms, your old hardware unit is not eligible for support or repairs, no new Upgrades or Plug Ins can be purchased for it and while you can keep the Unit for personal use, you will not give or sell the Unit to a 3rd party.
Can I change my mind and go back to using my Duende DSP after going Native?
Yes you can. You would need to uninstall the Duende Native version and re-install the Duende DSP version. Note that the Duende DSP installer overwrites all of the plug-ins to perform a complete system roll back. If you then wish to re-run the Duende Native installer once again and select only the plug-ins you wish to run Natively you can.
So does that mean I can choose to only Cross Grade some of my plug-ins?
No. When you Cross Grade you Cross Grade the individual hardware unit and all plug-ins associated with it. Although you can then choose which of the Native plug-in versions to Install and Activate you must agree to Cross Grade your unit as a bundle.

Duende Native 'Cross Grades'
I have bought a Duende Mini DSP Upgrade or a Duende V3 64 or 128 channel Upgrade… is that Cross Graded too?
Duende Native has no channel count limits. How many plug-in instances you can run simultaneously on a single system is limited only by the power of your computer. In recognition of your financial investment in channel count for your Duende we are also offering an additional reward offer to all owners of Channel Upgrades purchased on or before **.
Can I move my Duende Native plug-ins from one computer to another?
You can only use Duende Native plug-ins on one computer at a time but there are several different ways in which you can move your Duende Native Licenses from one computer to another.
The primary method of copy protection for Duende Native is a ‘software only’ Virtual dongle. The Virtual Dongle system binds each Duende Native plug-in License to a single computer. This system is used for Demo versions and Full License versions of our software. Demo Licenses cannot be moved between computers but if you wish to move a full License you can do so providing the two computers are connected via a network. This method is only suitable for individuals who are competent network administrators. SSL cannot provide technical support for network configuration issues.
A hardware ‘USB Dongle’ is also available for sale at the SSL web site. The Duende Native Dongle enables full license portability across an unlimited number of computers. You may install the Duende Native plug-ins on as many computers as you like and simply move your Dongle to the machine you wish to work on. You can only buy one SSL Dongle per set of Duende Native Licenses; you cannot install a single License on multiple dongles.
Great, How Do I Cross Grade?
Click here for instructions.

How To Get Your Duende Native Cross Grade
Install the Duende Native software
Please download and install the Duende Native software for the plug-ins you wish to Cross Grade. You will find the software and installation guidance here.
Go to the My Products tab in your SSL Profile
You should see a list of all of the units you have registered.
If you need to register your unit, use the registration section at the top of the screen.
1. Adjacent to each Duende hardware unit you have registered there will a button labelled ‘Cross Grade’
2. Hit the Cross Grade button, confirm that you have read and agree to the terms and conditions and are sure you wish to cross grade
3. This will create a new ‘Duende Native Products’ section within your Product list called
4. This will contain an item labelled ‘Free Duende Cross Grade – Unit #x’
5. Immediately beneath this you will see a 32 character ‘Activation Ticket’
6. You will also see the plug-ins included in the Upgrade listed
7. Beside the License Centre Ticket you will find a button labelled ‘Activate’
8. Hit the ‘Activate’ button and the SSL Online License Centre will open in a new web browser window
For instructions on how to use the SSL Online License Centre click here
A copy of the Activation Ticket will remain in your Products list for future reference.
If you have more than one Duende unit you need to Cross Grade each unit individually.

How To Get your Duende Native Free Demo
If you are an existing Duende Hardware unit owner please read the Free Cross Grade guidance here before installing Duende Native and activating any Demo Licenses.
Everybody is eligible for a free 30 day, fully functional Demo of all of the Duende Native plug-ins. In fact everybody is eligible for multiple demos, which we explain in detail below.
Before you can get a demo you must first download and install the Duende Native Software Installer Pack. You will find the software Pack and installation guidance here
The Installer Pack installs three things on your computer;
1. A single SSL software installer installs all of the Duende Native plug-ins in a single process
2. The ‘SSL License Control Panel’. This is a local ‘Control Panel’ for License management
3. SSL Virtual Dongle. This is the software equivalent of a USB Key style hardware dongle
NOTE: that although the Installer Pack installs the Software, License Control Panel and a Virtual Dongle, the dongle is empty and you do not yet have a License Key. To get a License Key you must first Activate your Demo… here is how;
Each plug-in Demo License must be Activated individually.

Go to the My Products tab in your SSL Profile
1. Log In to your SSL Profile. If you are not registered you will need to register before you can get a demo.
2. As soon as you are logged in you see this screen;
3.
4. Click on ‘My Products’
5. You will see a list of any SSL products you have registered.
6. You should also see a section labelled ‘Duende Native Demos’
7. In this section each of the Duende Native Plug-ins will be listed individually.
8. To the right of each plug-in there will a button labelled ‘Activate’.
9. Hit the ‘Activate’ button and the SSL Online License Centre will open in a new web browser window.
For instructions on how to use the SSL Online License Centre click here.

Viewing your Demo Status
In Your Duende Native Demo’s list, beside the name of each plug-in the current ‘Status’ is displayed.
There are two states;
1. Available (either ‘now’ or ‘in ** days’ – showing the number of days you must wait until the next free demo is available to you)
2. Active
Multiple demos, here is how it works;
Each plug-in demo must be activated and re-activated individually. From the day you activate your first demo you have 30 days of fully functional use. When this initial 30 day demo period ends your Demo License expires and your plug-in will stop working. If you wait for 60 days you will be eligible for another 7 day fully functional free demo. You don’t have to activate it right away, but when you do it will run for 7 days and then the 7 day Demo License will expire and the plug-in will stop working. Wait another 90 days and you will be eligible for another 7 day free Demo License. You don’t have to activate it right away, but when you do the plug-in will run for 7 days and then expire. Wait another 90 days and you will be eligible for another 7 day free demo. For one year we will repeat this pattern with you becoming eligible for a 7 day demo license, 90 days from when your previous license expires. That’s up to 58 days of free demo over the course of a year. At our discretion SSL might well decide to continue offering you free demo time.
After your first demo has expired, providing you do not unsubscribe from receiving email from us, we will email you to remind you when your next free demo period becomes available.

Interesting

A question for Duende users: does the channel have saturation going on? (like the Waves does) I've never used them, I'm curious
