| Did they update the factory sounds for all instruments or just added the sounds and presets for the new devices? |

They do add to the sound banks with every release though. This release they have some signature sounds included from a few different producers. Tweak away or buy some ReFills if you want new/extra stuff.

| Live sampling in Reason 5 looks interesting too, although I don't think I'd have much use for it. Kong on the other hand... oh boy ![]() Blocks and Dr. Octo Rex look like filler features, but the Kong drum designer alone is enough for me to upgrade. |

| Reason 5 is extraordinary stuff. It's just insane what you can do these days. Anyone who complains about it, I direct you to the following video. - c

| Is it just me or does Record's mixer sound even better than the Slate VCC audio demos? |

| I've honestly never really lusted after Reason until now. I've been watching some demos of Kong and the new sampling features and it sure looks like alot of fun.

| Does live sampling work in rewire mode? That would make reason the ultimate drum machine / sampler tool. |

| Curious on this. From the little I know, rewire slaves can't make use of interface I/O, and you can't send audio from the master to the slave app either. Hopefully someone will chime in that's had a chance to test it out. |

What I do sometimes is to start the project in Record/Reason and then export the stems at some point and continue my work in pro tools. Reason 5 and Record 1.5 is awesome software. ![]()

| Lives for gear | Kong looks dope . Reason has come a ways . Any musician types who've invested in plugs (UAD , expensive native stuff) ever thought of selling off their collections and simplifying by going with Reason/Record . Then taking that extra cash and buy some good gear for studio / gigs . Not really heard Record ever mentioned around these parts in terms of quality , sound etc . But then I wonder if a lot of that has to do with propellerhead's self contained nature . |

Record is seriously lacking in the editing department. People complain at the lack of VST support but in reality it's the editing tools that let the app down.

I bought Record just so that I could get the free upgrade to Reason 5 (upgrade was more or less the same price as Record for Reason owners), so I thought I'd give it a shot. Haven't looked back since. I still use Reaper, but Record has become my main tool.

the thing is they made everything stupid simple. What you see is what you get. Just look at the menus and preferences. There is hardly anything there, anything that you need to do is laid out openly. The problem with this is, unlike many other recording programs, there is really only 1 way to do things. Its a blessing and a curse. Its great if you know it, but terribly aggravating if you are coming from something else.
