It is cool to have a tactile control over faders and knobs, but why not tap into it and utilize the ability to hide and show controls and morphing...all from one 1024-by-768 page.
I think that's a good suggestion. Maybe as an alternate window view.

Same here.... though I have not tried on my iPhone.

Please, just make a simple, clear, informative website. Nothing fancy! No flash.... some may like flash though.

Hello there!

I have a few questions (sorry if they have been answered).

I am looking for an x/y controller that will either snap back to zero or stay where I set it (as an option). Would be great if i could split the screen in 4 x/y controllers. Please let me know if your app handles this.

Yes this is definately possible. For testing we have connected two iphones and one ipod touch with a single macbook - works like a charm...

All our controllers are scalable to arbitrary size, but as the initial-release-version will have no custom-views (just predefined ones), you won't have much advantage of that in the first couple of weeks...

There will be an x/y-controller, so far there is no snap-back for that, but I will put that on our todo-list ;-)

Very strange - the whole page has been created on a Mac by Tom, and it
shows totally nice on my Mac (and also on IE & Chrome on my Windows-machines)

I will tell Tom again to take a look at the issue...

website is fine here, 10.6.2 mbp/safari 4.0.5 (the latest one as of today's date)

i'm interested in this... but really i want to be able to control plugins with it... if it just supports midi, does that mean it's going to be a bit of a nightmare to set up?

MCU integration would surely solve this?

Sorry for but does this mean you can say have the second Ipad act sort of like the MCU Xpander does.

by this I mean can they be linked to function as one big unit ala MCU pro + 2 MCU xpanders.

MCU xpanders are just seperate units connected to a different midi-port (since each Mackie device wants its own) - so yes this should be possible...

Great count me in

Edit: New idea A slew or release option for the snap back so you can change how long it takes for the controller to get back to 0

The concept looks great, but will it have more 3D realistic graphics, vs the plain look on your site?

I like the plain look. The colors are off but the actual design is fine.

idea for you app : a RANDOM button. all displayed sliders / knobs / buttons are instantly set to a random value, sent by midi.

there's a softsynth, DISCOVERY by DiscoDSP (nord lead emulation) which has a RANDOM function, and it always give interesting results. i love it.

Hi Tobias

Can you please tell me if the clip names update/display as they are changed in Ableton Live?

Do you plan to match clip colours to those as they are displayed in Ableton Aive?

Can the the scene launch buttons take the names of the scenes as they are actually labelled in Ableton Live?

Thanks

We are currently working on creating scripts to enable midipad to use advanced Live features as mentioned above. At this point I cannot tell which of the features will be available with the first version though...

Best regards,
Tobias

I love the design of it - and in general, I hate the design of standard DAW's... they are trying to LOOK like "real faders" or "real knobs" and the idea is just patently absurd to me.

I prefer the way this looks by a mile, and things like Lemur and Touch OSC also - this type of more modern aesthetic with abstractions of control features instead of silly-looking "pro tools" faders is far more appealing to me and is far more inspiring.

YMMV, of course!

Definitely agree on this, and I'm not the only one. I've joined an interesting panel a few days ago about the iPad and its apps' interaction design.
