Using right now. First impressions are very positive. Singer is really enjoying the large vice chamber for tracking. The Small Chamber missle silo sounds great on drums.

Ambience Hall

Hello NS,

is the Ambience Hall included in the LXP Native? Or are there other opportunities to get this effect?

Thanks,

Not in the LXP Hall plug-in. I think these sound pretty good .. I used to
use Breverb a lot, but I think I'm going to use these instead now.

One annoying thing is they show up (in Protools) under "Other"
instead of "Reverbs" ...

As of today, Lexicon has lowered the MAP price on the LXP bundle to $399.

I need a good general purpose verb. Right now I have the UAD 140 plate, but need something to cover everything else. Would this bundle be a good choice? I realize the PCM would be the best option, but I don't have $1500 to spend on a verb

Thanks, I'm trying it out right now. My delima is that I think I might be able to get what I need out of the UAD DreamVerb ($150) vs. spending $400 on the LXP Bundle. Right now I'm trying both the DreamVerb and the LXP bundle. Any tips on what to look for, what makes one verb better than another? I know, it's a personal choice based on each persons taste/ears

I too have the UAD 140 or whatever it is called now. they are very different.
The EMT 140 as you know is plate only and has a special sound....... the lexicon is definitely much more versatile and so when you say general reverb I would definitely recommend it......

Yeah the EMT 140 is more specialized and not a general verb. I'm wondering if I can get what I need out of the UAD DreamVerb and save myself some $$. Have you used the UAD DreamVerb?

I just purchased this bundle. Damn I love the plate on my lead vox!

It's insane to get this lex quality at this price point. I tried a lot (and bought quite a few) of the competitors at this price point and I guess I must be someone who digs the lex sound. I never really knew what the "lex" sound was other than IRs and an MPX1 that I used briefly when I used to perform live (I didn't really know what I was doing back then though). To me what I like is that I can really saturate my vox with a lot of the plate and it doesn't sound like reverb per say to me, just thick and lush. If I mute the send with the verb, it's obvious when its gone but when in the mix it just sits and sounds great.

The GUI is also perfect for me - just enough params to tweak to get it right for the song, but not enough to be overwhelmed.

Thank you Lexicon for making these affordable!

I think other studio hobbyists/musicians like myself owe these a very close look.

Cheers,
Lumen

The Chamber

This PCM / LXP chamber algorithm is truly something ... does this one also go back to the 480L days or is this something newer?

Thanks! No, it was a newer reverb. I came up with an earlier version for the 960L and then refined it for the PCMs. It probably doesn't help that Lex reused the same names for algorithms that were different, but that's all old history now.

How cool is this? To get an answer from the author himself. A legend.

What a great great reverb. 'Chamber' is really a strange name for this program, as it can do everything, IMO, but has definitely a different 'tone' to it. great stuff!

Now that I have (at least 'had') your attention, whenever I'm reading 'Random Ambience', does the random part only mean the tail or are the ERs also randomized? In the PCM native they are not randomized according to my quick & dirty tests. Is this different in the Lex 300?

Thank you a lot, Mr. Michael Carnes.
Will check your 'Exponential Audio' website frequently for updates!

It's quite dense, with the reverb building up very quickly. If you've ever had the privilege of being in a good live chamber, you'll know what I mean. A few years ago I went into several of the chambers in a certain famous Hollywood studio and got to experience it first hand. They're marvelous, with a much longer reverb time than you might expect.

In the 480L and the 300 (those were Griesinger algorithms), the ERs were not randomized. In the 960L they were. I again removed the randomization of the ERs from the PCM96 and the plugs (the room algorithm). While randomization is sonically more pure, it suppresses a lot of the cues people listen for. My intentions were a little different from Dave's. He was looking to capture some of the reflections from his favorite seat in Boston Symphony Hall. I'm not sure the old ambience algorithm had enough reflections to actually do that, but it sounded nice anyway. My intention with 'Room' was to have some nice ones (to be sure), but also some problematic and noticeably colored early stuff. That stems from a conversation I had with a well-known audio post guy who complained our stuff was too nice for a lot of the ADR needs he had. So I put some sucky stuff in there too.
