when u buy new waves plugs that r released and add it to your personal "bundle you created" does it fall under same wup?

Also do u have to buy your custom bundle from waves directly or can u buy from regular retailers?

This is great news but I can only hope that for the selections, plugins from the classic analog emulations can be chosen.

Just using the Quick Choice option and getting only 5 plugins for example:

V-EQ4
API 2500
PuigTec EQP1A
CLA-76 Blacky
SSL-G Channel

So you basically got one plugin each from 5 different signature bundles.
Would they allow this? they would seem to loose more money allowing this than if they retained them in bundles.
I think the selections might only be for the none analog emulated plugins, I can only hope it's not.

I don't know how they are going to handle WUP with these yet.

It will be available through authorized dealers.

I will say... in many (or even most) cases it will be cheaper to buy one of the existing bundles, as opposed to configuring your own.

But, someone who wants L2, Renn Vox and MetaFlanger now have a better solution than getting Platinum.

Long overdue. Very nice also for commercial studios that need specific plug-ins for different rooms. A smart move i think.

WUP

I called and asked them about WUP. they say that there is nothing different about this in terms of WUP. it is capped maximum at $200.

I really do not get ll the WUP haters out there. For me WUP is an insurance policy that insures me that the tools I buy will work for me 10 years down the road as well.

If they get the prices right on this it could be great, really great.

Fantastic to be able to pick and mix some of their killer plugs.

This is nice to see. There's really only a handful of Waves plugs that appeal to me, and those are single plugs out of multiple bundles. (API 2500, Maserati Acoustic plug, CLA76, and perhaps something else I'm forgetting)
Would definitely be cheaper for me to buy 3 or 4 single plugs than to spring for multiple bundles and pay WUP on multiple bundles.

If they get the pricing right, this would definitely increase my interest in the Waves plugs in general. If they do it right, it's a very smart move - even if they sell the plugs ins at a break even cost, they'll sell more of them in general and bring in a lot more WUP fees in the long term.

I have mercury, but only one license and if mix room is being used and i wanna mix in the other room i only use about 5 waves plugs at the most. Sounds great for a 2nd license type of thing.

I don't know, is it really a "catch"? Why would you not expect it to be this way?

Where I think it makes sense would be for someone who wants three or four plugins that aren't in the same bundle(s). Rather than buying two or three bundles or paying full price for each individual plugin on the Waves website, you configure your own bundle and you're good.

Where I'd imagine it wouldn't make sense would be for someone looking at the Platinum bundle who decides to switch out half of the plugins in the bundle for different ones. Then I think it would be reasonable for that custom package to be more than the standard bundle.

I guess it remains to be seen what the real details are...

Is there a minimum number of plugs you have to "bundle" for something like the "Custom Choice"? For instance, could someone just buy 2 plugs ie API 550A and CLA76?

What if you only wanted ONE plug, which basically amounts to selling them individually? Is that how "Custom Choice" works?

Maybe now they can make TDM Bundle return to life.

I bought it in 1999, paid a new license in 2002 and in 2005 they decided they would not sell it anymore and that I should go to Gold Bundle, which was something I did not need.

I went the Mc DSP way with Emerald Bundle II. Cheaper, better plug-ins that cover most of what one can need in a dayjob.

However... seems it is time to revist their home...
PAZ, De-esser, Z-Noise, API2500, Ren EQ are again in my wishlist.

Good news from Waves! Just got upgraded my plugs when it was all cheap in December but may have to bite the bullet again.

PAZ
Rather than buy PAZ I say get RND Inspector Free -- AU or RTAS -- couple that with another freebie Flux Stereo Tool and you have PAZ functionality for nothing. And it sounds exactly the same
