I guess Mr. Brauer Didn't use high % of plug ins having the real hardware at hand(not talking about MP particularly as i don't know how he made it) for mixing "The calculation" song by Regina Spektor. One of my favorite albums. On the other hand for all I've seen and read about him he always say that you can get pretty good results with software too.

Just got my satellite 2 and i must say that the MP plug sounds amazing to me. one of my next 2 purchases are gonna be a MP hardware because if it sound like that being an emulation... wOW! Limited for try it first as I'm not living in the USA.

Oh.. the other is gonna be a shinny SHMC.

I used to own MP and loved it but hard times came and had to sell it, I now have the UAD and I no longer feel the need to buy the hardware, it really is that good. This plug is so spooky close that to me at least, spending that kind of $ is no longer necessary. If you get the chance rent one and compare it to the plug, I think you'll be surprised

Both UAD and Softube nailed the Trident Eq as well. It seems since it is a console EQ instead of a dedicated hardware piece it dos not get talk about a's much, but I love the Trident sond as well.

There is a recent interview/article that UA did with Michael Brauer. It seems he delegates a large portion of his signal processing duties these days to Universal Audio's UAD-2 Powered Plug-Ins:

“They have the sound I’m looking for,” he says. “And for me, it’s all about sound.” He goes on to say "They’re incredibly musical. I can really push them. UAD’s emulations of traditional compressors, EQ’s and other gear like vintage tape machines do an amazing job and help me find the sounds I am looking for FAST. There are times when I actually go to them instead of the hardware alternative — that shows you how comfortable I feel with them these days. And to me that is quite extraordinary, because I never thought digital emulations would ever get that accurate. In the early days of plug-ins, you’d see a plug-in that had the exact graphics of a particular piece of vintage gear, but the sound was anything but accurate! With UAD, the sound is there".

Wow, that is quite an endorsement from the man that engineered the recent Grammy winning John Mayer "Battle Studies" album. Apparently UAD-2 plug-ins are all over that project, as well. He also talks about how he uses various UAD plug-ins to get the sound he is after.

He further explains his "Brauerize" mixing approach, as well. Lot's of good stuff!

I don't know which is more "Accurate", but I have both and ever since getting the UAD version, the Softube doesn't compare. The UAD Trident has become one of my goto mix EQ's. It's just so musical and forgiving it's crazy.
Still love the Tube Tech CL1 from softube though. That thing is awesome.
