I agree. I knew it was coming with 9. However when I paid money to update to 8.0 it was a PPC supporting application. As of 8.0.3 it is no longer a PPC supporting application. I would be totally satisfied if my PPC cpu was supported to the end of 8 and no longer after that. I do indeed feel like I bought into something with a false premise. Getting a new computer is the last thing I would spend money on as my maxed on dual 2ghz/4GB RAM G5 is plenty powerful for my current needs. That being said a more stable PT would be swell. Digidesign/Avid really leaves a bad taste in my mouth when they do things like this.

when some logic 9 update or logic 10 needs osx 10.6, ppc support will be gone anyway. pthd 8.0.3 is the most stable version i ever worked with. there´s a little bug when zooming and selecting regions where it selects all regions with no reason, but besides that, it´s totally smooth and stable.

Same here. It's been 2 weeks and no crashes and maybe 1 or 2 buffer errors. This is the most stable yet.

Issue with Pro Tools Le

I didn't find a thread that I could find to ask this question to, but I thought, maybe, one of you could answer my question. I have the Mac Book Pro, Pro Tools Le 8.0 and Digi 003 Rack+. I went to setup, I/O and selected the output tab and found one output, Output 1-2. When I clicked on Default, lost the one Output that I had and go a list of all my inputs. Can you help?
Thanks.

What do I need to buy now? So confused..

I'm upgrading everything. Just bought a bad-ass PC rig with Windows 7. I was using Mac Logic and am switching back to PC.

The situation... I've got PT 6.9 which won't install on Win 7. And an original Mbox.

Do I need a Mbox 2? Or will the original work with PT 8?

Does the Mbox 2 actually offer anything over the original? Besides looking slightly cheezier?

The original Mbox only works up to 8.0.1cs1. W7 and Pro Tools is still in beta. The Mbox using firewire will give you access to lower buffer settings over the USB based Mbox.

Thanks for the info Shane. So is PT done supporting the original mbox with all new versions? If so, I should probably by a new interface. sucks...

I didn't know that PT was in beta with W7. That's not encouraging at all. Is it fairly reliable?

thx -

Justin

talk to the 001 owners
or mix owners with a dozen farm cards on os9

it happens
they could have released pt8 sooner if they didn't code it to ppc altogether...

Yes, it's the end of the road for the Mbox original unfortunately.

Unfortunately, it has a long ways to go still and not even close to reliable. Don't install it if you want to record. If you have time to burn and want to beta test then try it. I don't even recommend 8.0.3 on XP. It blew one of my NS 10 tweeters tonight and I posted quite the rant on the DUC. I don't know what they're doing at Avid Audio HQ but I'm really losing all hope with Pro Tools and Avidesign. Stick with 8.0.1cs1 on XP. It's the most stable of the 8.x era on PC and it will work with your Mbox original. I rolled back to 8.0.1cs1 myself.

Hope that helps.
