I'm interested in going to this convention, but I've never been to one before. Do you need an invitation to attend or do I just need to buy a ticket? If so how much would it cost? I tried to contact AES but didn't get an answer.. I need to know this asap so I can book a flight.. Thanks guys! -Joao |

I went to the AES when it was in Copenhagen some 8 years ago. I got in without beeing a member. Mabye the first day or two is members only...

Hi! I just saw this thread and I'm going to sign up to become a member of AES. I was just wondering what happens once I become a member...i've seen there's a registration desk at this event...would I just get there nice and early and sign in there? I've never been to one of these before and I don't want to miss out on this opportunity as it's right on my doorstep. If anyone has anymore info on this event could you please give me a heads up on what might be covered etc.

Im not a member so any new on this front would be great. Regardless a drink or a meal should be mandatroy i think...? not sure exactly where is good around there if any.. its a bit of wasteland around there on that front except for low rent pubs and perhaps a wetherspoon´s. Or we could meet up somewhere central and work it out from there. Cheers Wiggy |

really hoping to make this my first AES too. would also like clarification on the membership issue as requested above. and low rent pubs = low rent pints and good, down to earth vibes. well, at least around these parts it does...

Hey guys i just signed up to the AES, cost $99...and i dont think you need to be a member to go to it, so I'm not sure if I actually needed to join lol. It says on their website under the benefits:Discounts: All members receive discounts on convention and conference registration fees as well as greatly reduced prices for publications in the E-library and all other items available through the AES Store. So i guess i'll get a discount...but i would guess you just pay at the registration desk on the day? I'm not sure though, maybe someone who's been before knows and can chime in =] I do know that with signing up you get a membership card haha. You also get access to journals...but discussions here on gearslutz are pretty valuable too i think. Anyways here's a link to the benefits:Benefits of Membership I'm up for meeting up, sounds good to me |

Any news on the registration fees for members and non-members? I'll probably sign to become a member anyway, I was just hoping to get a ballpark for the admission fees. |

it is much easier to get to than the javits center in new york. very, very close to my favorite movie theater in london - the riverside studios cinema. a great place to see a film. be well - jack |

I just got an email from them =] you can check out more information here: AES London 2010: 128th AES Convention The prices can be seen here: https://secure.aes.org/events/128/visitors.cfm It's a lot cheaper if you're a member and register before the actual event. Here's one last link to an in depth overview of what will be going on, I'm still yet to check out everything that's going on ![]() AES London 2010: Calendar of Events Hopefully see some of you there |

The list of exhibitors is very small, it's a pity but it seems Musik Messe has taken over from AES in Europe. I guess this could be the last one, surely it is not financially viable for them anymore. Time will tell.

i fear the exhibitors list is going to get even smaller in the coming weeks it's a shame as london could do with a good event but MM might just have killed it

So I've bought my student ticket, what should I expect? Whats the dress-code like? Is there anything else you would recommend to a first-timer?

I'm in the same position as you themadnun. It's my first time going too, i bought a full ticket because I thought I would make the most of this opportunity. It's not everyday I get something like this on my doorstep lol. One of the main reasons I'm going is for the career fair as I've just finished uni and am still jobless. As far as dress code, I haven't been told about anything like that, i think it's pretty relaxed about that and you can dress as you normally would. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong though i'm going to bring a notebook so I can take notes or write down anything of info. I might also bring a video camera...dunno if they're allowed though. It's under 2 weeks now yay I still haven't got my AES membership card in the post even though I joined quite a while ago, so i'm just printing off a paper with temporary membership card type of thing, and also pages with my membership info and proof of buying a ticket, cos I'm not sure if I'm meant to get something through the post for this, or I just go along and give my pages in and they give me a badge? Anyways I should be alright with the printed out pages, hopefully |
