I'm pretty annoyed that the demo emits a beep *every 15 seconds.*

Say what you want about USB dongles, but to me this is about as intrusive as a demo gets.

Thankfully the prices are very low, so I guess it's just more reason to buy them right away.

The new CT-PEV sounds excellent. So far, it's running fine here under 10.6.

I fought the PEV was sounding wired at 10K and presence (60hz sounds fine) and here is what i found running a pink noise through it :

blue is flat, red is 6db boost, green is 6db cut
image 1 is 10K image 2 is 2K

is it the normal behaviour of this eq ?

I think that the unusual curves are part of the mojo - the valvetone does some wild stuff when you boost the treble in "smokin 2" - this is what make them great - you get curves that you may not normally dial in, but which can sound great on the right material. I thought that they sounded tasty, not weird (though it may not work for everything).

maybe, but an eq where you have to cut 10k to actually boost it can be misleading to some fresh ears

I think you need to remember that this was a vinyl mastering eq, so this curve was probably needed for some of types cuts they were doing. Also, any old bundled eq shows you a picture of the curve - I think the whole point of eq of this type is to have some mystic and get you using the ears again - sometimes the unexpected is just what I need to get some sound that I wouldn't have thought to try.

This is not a "general purpose" eq - it is a model of a vintage piece and should be used with that in mind....

I agree this is very usefull to have something that cuts and boosts at the same time, you can have good surprises in the context of a mix, i will try it...

maybe Salvator who would have tested it extensively can give us some feedback.

thank you very much btw to have given us old time tritone users this baby. i also encourage everybody to test it, just what it does on the signal without any eq is very pleasant.

yeah nice one for doing the graph.... i did also find it wierd that to boost the top end on this breakbeat i was playing with i had to cut about 4 db on the top dial...as others have said i did get a nice sound out of it though!

so salvator....intentional or not?

I'm so happy Tritone have stuck around! Valvetone is sublime...

Looking forward to all their other plugs being ported. They have some serious mojo!

Pshh. That question is SO late-2008.

(I'm only kidding, but in the case of TriTone, I doubt it, as their plugs are convolution-based... I think)

Hehe... It is, but I'm still traumatized!

I'll give these plugs a chance... I hope it doesn't have that ignoring beep going on every 5 seconds like they used to.
