I don't think Valvetone sounds different, but I think that's a good thing, cuz I love the way it sounds. The upgrade to v.2 (which does not need Pluggo anymore) is $25 plus you get the new plug Classic-Tone for FREE (till Dec. 31, 2009). I think Tritone is a great company and I have no problem paying $25 for an upgrade that must have been a pain, since they had to re-do the plugs without the Pluggo engine.

I e-mailed them about PC and they said nothing is is the works right now. They will have to "look into the feasiblity" of it. Doesn't sound promising....

That really sucks considering that I own(ed) several of their plugs (PC) and they sent me an upgrade e-mail which doesn't technically apply to me either.tutt

For PC folks this appears to be much ado about nothing.

This PEV is stellar. IMO, no one makes eq's that sound more analog.

LOL. 10-15 of the pluggo versions would easily max out a core 2 duo processor. Nice to see how good the optimization is.

That's a joke, of course it feasable ! If that wouldn't be possible, there would be no Mac plugin developer that would release PC versions as well <_<...

Yeah, maybe they just are not interested (or have time until all of their plugs have been updated for Mac first....)

Wow. I missed that when I got the emails. I also used them on a PC and missed the whole no PC thing. That kind of sucks, although I really don't use color tone anymore because I didn't like the whole pluggo thing after I installed it. When I went to another computer I didn't even re-install it. Oh well, I would like the option to try it out without the whole pluggo thing since I did pay for it at one point...

I kind've forgot how good the valvetone sounds (didn't use it so much due to pluggo flakiness) - I will be getting back into this one and the awesome classictone PEV - these both really have some balls and are sweet sounding.

Getting some great results right now on the 2-buss of a lo-fi funk groove.

I'm glad Pluggo is gone - too sketchy for pro plugs - good to see the "rebirth" of Tritone.

Nice to get the freebee in the upgrade price - really sugarcoats the deal.

ps- I too would like some less awful GUI for Angeltone - looking forward to hydratone and colourtone as well.....

So when will PC people attack: "What? No PC-version? PC is the only real pro audio platform..."

I want that damn PC version of Colortone Pro, they got my money in the past and it should not be ignored!

I am also a die-hard TriTone fan who uses a PC. I'm actually still using all their pluggo-based plugins successfully in Reaper on a Q6600.

I believe one of the main reasons they are unsure of investing the time and energy into a PC release is because of the likelihood that it will be cracked soon after release. I think their earlier PC plugins were available on torrent sites and I'm sure it made their sales take a big hit.

Although I appreciate the fact that they use a serial number authorization process, this is a case where I wish they would just go with iLok. Why do folks crack the little guys? It pisses me off! Although I don't condone it, I can see why someone would try to crack a company like Wavves. But companies like TTD? That's just wrong!

TTD is a great company and I would love to continue to support them. Let's hope they can figure out a way to bring their new plugs to the PC!

mmhh - i think that's not the reason ...
i believe they just have a coding-frame wrapper that only works on osx.
i dought they have the coding power to do everything from scratch like spectrasonic did.
but maybe i am wrong ...

The exact quote from the e-mail I received from TTD regarding PC vesions of the new plugs goes like this.........

"We hope to do PC in the future; we are currently looking at both the technical and financial feasibility of it!"

I would guess that they WILL do it. I was simply pointing out my initial dissapointment when I opened the upgrade e-mail they sent me, only to find out that is was just Mac versions. That being said, I Do realize that the Mac folks have probably had to do more waiting overall.

So Mac folks enjoy!

PC folks hang in there!

Now back to making music.......

Exclamation

Hello gearslutz !

I want to add some informations from the (french) horse's mouth…

First apologies to PC people for the 'lust only' email... we didn't intended to make anybody more slutty than they already are, for free :-)
We'll consider distinguish newsletter informations next time.

About PC update, we have the ability to do it, and in fact have already ValveTone kind of working under Windows. Every fix we do no the mac code, also benefit the PC code, so things are evolving and it may not be long until our mac users receive the newsletter about PC update ....

THat said, we want to be prudent and not give away date, or even tell publicly that it 'WILL' be done, until it's really here… And you know, with software, there's often surprise and delay... Mostly porting the plugin is one thing, supporting it is another thing.

So we're looking into this and it may (or may just not) happen. Thanks for understanding.

I perfectly understand the red face or duvalle !
If you have heard the FREE ClassicTone PEV on GTR, you would presently be violet

(sorry couldn't resist ...)

So indeed, ValveTone V2 has the same velvet sound (as we wanted to allow recall for our v1 users). Though we reduced some convolution artifacts called 'ripple'. It's an inch further truer to hardware, and IMO slighly more hi-fi overall.

Wow ! 250 instances ? that's trully amazing what computer can do nowadays…
Those trebles in ValveTone are lovely. True enough that even a few years after original release (and many very good competitors) I most often keep reaching for VT62 in my main vocal chain.

Now gotta look for 250 singers ...... amazing times........

gearslutz,

Salvator

Salvator,

We've corresponded a few times on your forum. I'm so glad you guys are still around! I can't wait for the CT & AT releases. I need them bad, and AT crashes my Mac Pro under 10.6.

I bought Hydratone and Colortone after they had just come out 5/6 years ago. They were alright plugins for the time but they totally sucked for reliability. I had to quit using them because of there crappy copy protections that they never fixed. Plugin settings would constantly be lost when re-opening projects, and you'd frequently lose authorization. Too much trouble to mess with and I have no care about these new versions.

Convolution eqs are old hat anyway. Nebula is where it is at now.

I agree there was major stability problems for me too - I stopped using them (Hydra, Colour, Angel, Valve) because they were just too flacky.

I like the sound though, and I am looking forward to having some non-pluggo versions which should be more usable.

I haven't tried Nebula (WAY too complicated on a mac) but the new "PEV" eq totally rocks and valvetone is just as juicy as I remember....

Lets hope great things are coming!

Hydratone is the best all around mix track eq ever. Can't wait for the truly native version, will finally be able to get C5 and use Hydratone with it.

Maybe 10-15 instances in a store bought Core 2 machine. I ran 25+ and some serious reverb and effects plugins on a self built machine with plenty of CPU to spare!

anyone who cracks plugs from a 'little guy' or a 'big guy' is equally a thief in my book. those that don't dig Waves don't have to use them, but cracking plugs?

as for Tritone, IMO they made the first soft EQ that made me think maybe ITB wasn't that bad (Hydratone), and to this day it kicks butt. geat news about the new opimization. can't wait.

best of luck to Damon and Salvatore; on top of offering a great product they're great guys.
