Thread Starter | Mackie 1640 w/ Firewire Option Vs. 1640i Hi! I am in the process of purchasing an integrated mixer and I was wondering the basic reviews of the older Mackie 1640 with Firewire Option Vs. the new Integrated 1640i? Can anyone shed any light on substantial differences as the price point is substantially different! |

| I wouldn't call $150 a "substantial" difference...even if the quality and features were exactly the same, it costs more to manufacture, package and ship two separate pieces than one. As I understand it the main differences are the 16 Firewire returns (versus two) mentioned earlier, a well as more advanced Firewire/direct out routing flexibility, two DI inputs, and Pro Tools compatibility. I'm not sure if the quality has been improved substantially, if at all... |

| Just got a 1640i and running it with Pro Tools M-Powered on Snow Leopard. Its absolutely awesome, the routing is nice, the Eq is smooth and the build is solid. |
