Blue Cat's free plugins update - including RTAS support

Dear gear addicts,

We are happy to announce the release of a new version of Blue Cat's Freeware Pack free audio plugins bundle. The big news is that new version introduces RTAS plugin format support for Pro Tools. It also includes several fixes and enhancements for the other formats, on both Mac and PC.

Although it should be pretty stable now, RTAS support is still in beta, so please send us feedback by email or in our support forum. You can also use this thread to report issues or tell us that it works properly on your system .

What's new in this version:
- Factory presets are now available from the plugin menu.
- RTAS plugin format support (final beta stage - currently available with the Free Pack only)
- Mac: fixed keyboard/mouse focus issues in some hosts.
- Mac: fixed user interface crashes in some hosts, when used with particular display settings.
- Mac-AU: fixed user interface resizing issue when changing skin in some hosts (Logic).
- Mac-AU: fixed settings lost issue when doing offline rendering in some applications.

About Blue Cat's Freeware Pack:
Blue Cat's Freeware Pack is a collection of 9 audio plugins (100% free) including several popular modulation effects, multiple instances-aware gain control plugins, a spectrum analyzer and an EQ. Plugins are freely available for download as a single package or separately.

System Requirements: Windows Xp or higher / Mac OS 10.5 or higher.

Enjoy!

Have you installed them in the directory where Cubase is looking for VSTs on your PC?

As you can see below, our plugins should run in Cubase 5:

Blue Cat's peak meter and gain suite (both free) are midi linkable, and provide an alternative to vocal rider / wave rider etc

Can you explain? What would be controlling it in this scenario?

It's indeed Windows Vista. What is exactly your problem? Do they show up in the plugins menu and you cannot open them or they are not even there? In the latter case, rescanning the VST plugins and making sure they have been installed in the directory Cubase is looking for VSTs should fix the problem (the default install path might not be the same as Cubase 5's VST 2 folder - it has changed between C4 and C5 as far as I remember).

thanks,i try again whit scanning operation because the problem is on XP only.

Is also possible because installing them under a sub-folder and not directly in VST

Example VST-->Blue Cat's-->flanger,chorus etc etc

I use the stereo M/S plugs frequently, both on PC&MAC.

Thanx for the free versions. thumbsup

the PC RTAS versions work great, have 0 delay and use very little CPU. well done. the sound is nice too.

the only glitch i've noticed is a redundancy in the plugins list:
(mono) (Mono) and (stereo) (Stereo)

but that's no big deal and i'm sure it's easy enough to fix.

i'm really digging the analyzer.

very well done.

Thanks for your comments. Pro Tools indeed adds (mono) or (stereo) to plugins names and ours originally already contain the same qualifier. So we'll just get rid of it...!

Thank you all for your feedback that really helped us improve RTAS support in our plugins!

The RTAS version of our freeware pack has now been updated! It's still in beta and we'll hopefuly release the final version soon. Please continue to send us feedback!

What's new:
- Mac: fixed incompatibility issue with Snow Leopard (under Pro Tools pre-release 8.0.3). Random crashes when closing the plugins GUIs are now fixed.
- Mac: fixed window opacity issue (was not properly reset when loading a new Blue Cat Audio plugin with an opaque skin in the same window).
- Mac / PC: fixed plugin name that ended with duplicate (stereo) or (mono) qualifier.
- Mac / PC: fixed MIDI node naming issue (did not always correspond to exact plugin name).

You can still download it for free on our website.
