Daniel: It's my understanding that as of V3, Duende is essentially native. And IMO, the main reason these companies use DSP today, is for copy protection. That said, I generally like DSP better. I've mostly used Pro Tools TDM systems for the last almost 15 years. But, DAW's themselves are native, and anything less than TDM/HD DAW/DSP integration is a kludge, as far as I'm concerned... mainly because of CPU to DSP data handling. Multi-core DAW's are still in their adolescence. You can't fight the future. Well, you can... but you probably shouldn't. Who knows though, maybe this OpenCL/CUDA business will catch on for audio. Back on-topic... how's EQ part of this plug-in?

I demoed this thing yesterday, and as much as I tried to love it I couldnt in the end I jst uninstaled it went back to using tal-tube and buying urs saturation next month and these 2 should cover me as far as saturation goes I am not saying it is a bad plugin, all I am saying is it simply did not work for me aswell as Tal-tube did.

| I dunno, sounds like WA needs a DSP dongle to help out those struggling i7's. ![]()

I liked it. Scoped out with a harmonic profile that looked very similar to my Lexicon 284 preamp. However, I have so many ABP (already been purchased) ways of getting harmonic saturation, that I can't really bring myself to buy more. But after testing, I would rate this among the top of my favorites.

Just for fun I processed each track in CB5 with the warm a mix preset and wow! @96k 24 bit this baby sounds great.... I did not get that digital irritation I so often find when mixing in the box. Took me years to figure out that is was the sound of digital that was irritating me after around 1 to 2 hours of mixing. Once I realised this phenomena it was easy to manage, just take a break, but... Today I mixed for 3 1/2 hours with no irritation with the Flu. I had so much fun I forgot I was ill and time flu (pardon the pun) by... WaveArts; you guys have made the audio version of Night Nurse, thanks...

BTW I am not hating, just trying to point out that dedicated DSP creates is own problems and is much more expensive than a fast computer - It seems a bit unusual to prefer one calculator over another, as long as the equation comes out right. Why not save the cash on cards and buy better converters to upgrade the whole package? Sorry to all readers for my semi-prickish reply - it was not cool. Anyway, enough with the hijack... ![]()

Right, back on topic. I've made some MP3-files featuring WaveArts Tube Saturator on both bass & drums. The source-files were peaking at -0.1 dB and I tried to make the processed files as close to that without going over. I used two standard presets "Subtle Tube Warmth" & "Tube Crunch". I also made a file with VirSyn VTape with 2dB compression inserted after the Tube Saturator. You can download the files from MediaFire here:

the warm a mix preset just changed a little... a little less on the high and lowend... and turned up the drive to 5.. backed off the output just a little to make sure nothing would clip and yes, it sounded amazing...

| Finally found few minutes to try out and I love it! I was very positively surprised by the musicality and smoothness of the EQ. Very little went a long way but even big boosts sounded fantastic. It didn't give me the usual synthetic sound I get from most Plug-in EQ's out there and it sounded _Real_. Wave Arts did a fantastic job on this and with CPUs getting faster by the minute (New Processor Will Feature 100 Cores | Gadget Lab | Wired.com) I'm not concerned by its needs for power. They proved it can be done. thumbsup P.S. I really like JustinAiken's "virtual circuit builder" idea. Any chance it'll become a reality? Cheers |

I love what it does to the upper mids on my dist gtrs bus. Monitoring through Mytek Dac -> Adam S2.5 & Sub 10 On Mac Pro 4-core and logic, can only load 2 instances with the rest of my plugs running... wow... need to spend on a new 12-core mac pro to run this plug... :D

Wow! Im sold! This plugin nails it down! It really can add some subtle enhancement, kind of a sweet "upfront" sound. Im using it on the mastering stage after a compressor and i think it rocks. Congratulations Wavearts, this plugins is trully a breakthru! PS: Of course you'll need decent monitoring to perceive these changes. Here i'm using Dynaudios BM6 and it impressed me at the first try!

I tried it on a rock singer, pushing the mids with slite satur. this plugin is going to be a winner in a master chain and on vox it's a great too. I'm gonna get this one even if CPU is high, as long as they sound this good it' a winner for me. Daniel

Doesn't sound quite as good as my Svetlana 12AX7's, but for emulation it's the best I've heard so far.

[QUOTE=a1236040;4754825]dfegad Another fake tube emulation with digital sound - ouch my ears !!! ![]() By definition you cannot have a 'fake' emulation Its either an emulation or its not Put it down to a language barrier![]() I think it sounds really good. I put a compressor straight after it and automated in the drive and mid range slowly over 16 bars hence turning a little knocking bass into a big growling angry bear. Would like to buy but the Elysia and DSM demos run out in a couple of days and thats gonna be a battering on the pocket.

What's the matter, man? I'm working with ASP8's from many years and I can tell you the difference between a good/bad record, a good/bad plugin. The difference is in the ears, I hope you know that.
