if all sample libraries based their price on the gear they were sampling, there would be no market for samples....lol

How about what a Moog IIIc costs in the early 70s? How much does a good Moog emulation cost...a few hundred?

LOL. Moon to whoever you are... I'm not basing my price on the gear I'm sampling.

I do think it's cool that the technology today allows the capture of such work and the distribution to artists around the world.

And I've never heard a Moog emulation sound like a Moog. These drums do sound like what I recorded, but that's more about the technology involved.

Hope you enjoyed the sounds!

We've had sampling for a loooong time - it's not today's technology. Emulation, now that's a different story.

I've put Arturia's Moog against a real Moog MANY times (I have both in the same studio) and while the real thing is better (a touch warmer and fatter), Arturia's emulation is incredibly close. In 2010, there are a slew of great emulations available to us by some ingenious designers.

That's cool.

I have no desire to discuss the semantics of the word "today" with you,
because honestly... I don't care. I'll continue to be happy and feel positive
about things.

I'm pretty versed in soft synths and hardware synths. I think developers
have done a great job with emulations of late. I haven't heard the Arturia
in a bit, so later revisions may sound different than my memory.

A synth is more than it's oscillators. There's also VCAs, envelopes, and
filters. These all color the sound in a particular way. I haven't heard an
emulation nail the filter yet. That's my ears and my opinion. I'm happy to
keep that opinion and need no convincing other than my ears to tell me
different.

Cheers!

Check around via the Moog, Arturia sounds great for instance. Buggy, but sounds great.

And yes I've used the real deal many many times.

Thanks for the info! Just ribbing you a bit because what I heard up there sounds very good.

You sound a little defensive there and I'm not sure why. There are no semantics to discuss - we're simply referring to modern technology, and all I'm saying is that sample playback isn't new at all. In technological terms its eons old. "Good" sample playback, now maybe that's new, made possible by better means of recording and even more so by faster computers with enough memory and horsepower to allow people to create MUCH better libraries. But I was recording and playing back audio as a kid on my home PC a couple decades ago. I never imagined anything like Arturia and things of that ilk in those early days.

Early versions were a killer. Always forcing a crash. I have to say that this latest version hasn't given me any trouble of any kind.

Note to self... don't drink and post.
Yesterday was my birthday, so I was treating myself.

I agree with you that sampling as a technology is older
than emulation. Emulation and physical modeling has
made some great leaps over the last couple of years,
so no slight to any artist/developer working in that
arena.

Sampling has made some great leaps as well, especially
with things like harmonic distortion, EQs, filters, etc.

I sampled some filters and reverbs that are also included
in this collection... a free gift. I think they are pretty cool.

I still think it's amazing that I can put a year's work online
and have it used around the world in people's music.

So, to get back on topic...

Driven Machine Drums is on sale for $37
($40 savings)

Driven Machine Drums Deluxe is priced at $47
($40 savings)

DRIVEN MACHINE DRUMS: 24bit Electronic Drum Samples for GURU, EXS-24, and Kontakt in WAV, AIF

This sale lasts until April 15th.

Nah, it means I slightly underestimated the amount my
government wants for the privilege of doing business.

Gotta pay my fair share.

There's no DMD2 in mind, just a couple smaller things
to accentuate the existing collection. Then I'll be working
on a collaboration with another team. I'm pretty excited
about that project.

Are you still having fun with the sounds?

Wrote you an email but did not hear back....was wondering why there is no option when buying these to defer the additional 7 dollar charge that's tacked on to allow extended download access??

Thanks

Hey Tom. There's a trash can icon on the right that allows the
option to be deleted.

This is something Share*It does. Some people choose to grab
the extended DL in case of hard drive failure.

Thanks!

Yes... there are a lot. Some of the best I've heard
comes from the Vermona DRM MkIII.

Nah, I'm just kidding.

I know that's your favorite!

I actually used the H8000FW as my
clock/convertor with Mogami cable
throughout the chain.

Sounds good enough for Rock + Roll...
or techno, house, hip-hop, idm, whatever.

the mistake made... / would be nice to see...
not making / a sample library Kontakt player compatible...
like NI Abbey Road 60s Drums for example.
people want to see photos, or knobs... to have more control of the samples, like usign the real machines.

VAT?

Hello,

just wanted to order, and although I type in my company's VAT number, the tax still appears in the billing.

What do I have to do to remove the VAT-tax?

Thanks

I think the idea is great but if you want to sell stuff work on this website.
To much text to much information what is not needed.

I do not care which gear you used.
I care if it sounds right.

You need a much better navigation on the website and better structure.

Buying libraries should be easy.

Now; before I think about buying it I am off, because I have to read a NOVEL.

Good Marketing is different....
Check out some of you competitors website and start with yours from scratch.
