Abbey Road RS124 Plugin?

Wondering if this is still coming this year, or at all.

Wade said in another thread about a week ago that he is working on lots of things, plugins being some of them. He didn't say what the plugins were or when they are going to be ready

Sorry thats not very useful info, but I think its the latest public info AKAIK

Let's be fair now. A native digital emulation of a hardware digital advice is totally different than a digital emulation of a totally analog device.

What!?!?! Your not rich... what hell youre doing then on Gearslutz. A minimum of 10k of loan a month is necessary to stay around here!
You need this vintage mic with that new pre into a stellar 80's console recording in to PT bouncing back to tape. And change this setup every 2months....
I just can't stand people using stuff for 5procent of there capabilities... Learn to work what you have for 75% at least.

Are you serious ? What do you mean ?

I know how to work with what I have, I was just saying that "normal" people would like to be able to get new gear (using plugins also because it's cheaper than hardware) at an affordable price too...

Wade has not been involved with any of the Abbey Road plug-ins past the original compressor, what makes you think he's involved with this one?

that's cool. maybe he is back in the plug-in end of things on this project then. would make sense to do it all at once.

To me, the reproduction of the digital gear is more valuable than the attempt at the analog emulation, because while (imo) a Neve plug-in will never literally be the same thing as the real deal, a plug-in that ports digital code over to the Mac/PC environment *can* completely replace the original (theoretically). Since you asked.

I do see the logic, but I would argue that the value is in the sound of the code, regardless of the origin of the code.

Valuation is entirely a matter of perception.

Yeah,... I figured... although, no matter how hard I look I can't seem to find a new PCM96 for $1,500. Also, the minute that Wade can port the exact same digital code from the analog RS124 to plugin form I'll gladly pay a higher price........

Lexicon might just take the crown from Waves with this one......

I wonder if this thread will ever get back to the actual, possible release of the RS124 plugin... not that I've been helping...

oh yeah good point, chandler / abbey road, hmmm, I'm not sure what their relationship is now.

Anyway, wade said that he was working on his own plugins, maybe it isn't the abbey road ones after all

I'm pretty sure he ditched that idea.

i'd be curious to compare the plug to my hardware units.
that'd be really cool if they get it close

Man, I've been waitin' for this plug since I first heard about it. Hadn't realized it's been that long ago since they first announced it. What a dissapointment there's still no news of it and appears it ain't gonna happen any time soon.

Well,

Just a small bump, as NAMM is approaching, and also as it's been a long LONG time since the announcement...

I'm not convinced this is actually in development.

I hope I'm wrong.

I hope too ;-).

Maybe it's just because they have restructured the company in-between, so there are other projects and so on...

Trying to find a good "excuse" .

I wish!!!! (I hope!)

The way Softube talks about it, though... it seems their new "surprise" should be a much bigger deal than this.

Maybe it's this RS124 and other plugins?

Maybe they made some kind of partnership and will release a few plugins under Abbey Road brand...

I would like that!

Maybe they plan to ditch the whole plugin route and begin a hardware line ...

That's somehow strange...

More than 1 year ago they were showing it at the AES show in october 2008, and it was supposed to enter beta with an estimated release date for "early 2009".

Now we're heading to be early 2010, and still nothing...

Hum, there is a communication problem with this company. They did not even bother to answer emails.
