Snow Leopard...

...is finally here. It's not such an exciting new OS, but there are some decent enhancements included.

I use ProTools, and although I've heard good things about SL with ProTool, I'm going to wait a bit.

Anyone else take the plunge yet? If so, what's your primary use (ProTools, Logic, Final Cut, StudioVision, Mastertracks Pro...) and how's it working for you?

I wouldn't merge those.

I must admit nothing is pushing me towards this upgrade. I'm sure it's nice but things are ok the way they are right now with regular Leopard. However, if someone told me this new OS upgrade would help cool my laptop, I'd be there in a heartbeat.

this is an incredible refreshing update from Apple.. it doesn't give us dozens of new features we'll never use, instead improves on what's already there.

why can't (music) software developers ever do this?

More stable? Faster?

That's what I was hoping to hear.

Looking through related topics, and trying to find an answer... Is all the fuss with Snow Leopoard just about some music applications/plug-ins etc. not being compatible? Or is it because the upgrade doesn't offer that much, and people therefore don't think it is worth while?

I use ProTools, have iDrum and all the Sound Toys plug-ins, they are the only things I ever use at the momement. Would the upgrade affect this?

If your machine doesn't have a lot RAM (more than 4GB), then you should probably stay put. Snow Leopard is extremely RAM hungry. The more RAM that you have the better your machine will run under Snow Leopard.
