"The next version of SONAR Producer will allow you to run 32-bit plug-ins in 64-bit OSes, now accessing up to 128GB RAM"
Wow! I am not a Sonar user BTW...

Wow! I am not a Sonar user BTW... | I know - multi-instance bit-bridge is the feature that really gave me a boner as well. Also has me thinking about putting an obscene amount of RAM in my I7 system.
Waiting for my already-payed-for upgrade to arrive . . .

Steven Slate and Ocean Way drums included? Might be worth it for that alone.

Wow! I am not a Sonar user BTW... | This was discussed over at the forum and I think it was determined to be phrased improperly. I don't think any 32 bit plug can overcome it's ram limitation 64 bit bridge or no.

Worth the upgrade cost alone, IMHO.

Looks like it's actually 8.5, not 9, according to the Cakewalk forums and an ad in Keyboard Magazine?

Kind of the way DigiDesign does releases for Pro Tools. Not sure that's a great business model to follow.

Interesting
But we all know that it won't probably be usable untill next christmas or something.
I frankly just wish for more stability and less motorboating.
I still have to record in PT M-Powered when i have costumers... i'm too afraid Sonar is either going to crash on me or record something unusable.

-Alxi- | It's stable for me even on a crappy T400 laptop - what's your system and interface?

-Alxi- | I've been using Sonar 7 then Sonar 8 PE for over a year and half now, and have had very few minor glitches. Very stable DAW imho. Most likely it is your configuration, not Sonar.

Looks like a great program if it's solid and I'd love to try it, were it not Windows only (I don't run boot camp or parallels for that matter). Don't know if it'll ever become cross platform (again), but they'd be very smart invest the effort.

It is still my favorite DAW, i like the workflow and all
but let's just say i'm always considering switching to something else
Samplitude has been on my mind for a few mounths
V11 just got released. Will have to try it before upgrading to S8.5

Sonar 8.3.1 very stable for me also...
Q6600
4 Gig Corsair
WinXP SP3
Gigabyte MB GA-965P-DQ6
RME Fireface
Powercore PCI MkII & Unplugged 3.2.0.37
Hopefully whatever the next version is called will even be more efficient, as they're sure to address at least a little under the hood.
As a guess, I'd say setup, interface drivers or a plug-in not working well with Sonar could be your problem.

-Alxi- | What mother board? For mobile use I'm using a stock Lenovo T400 laptop and a Profire 2626. Once I disabled the card-reader she's been flawless (XP 32).
Works great as well on the I7 desktop.
