| Lives for gear | Pre-Product Announcement from GIK Acoustics. The Screen Panel!
Tracking is one of the biggest challenges in the typical non-purpose built room. It's really hard to keep the room sound down to a minimum, and lots of people don't want to go completely "dead" in their spaces. In response to tons of requests, we've spent some time developing a gobo-type solution, something that people could use to control the room sound in a vocal, drum kit, acoustic guitar or whatever. It took us a while to figure out how best to do this, but here it is: the GIK Screen Panel, based on our 242 and 244 designs. There are lots of options in terms of how to use it: unfolded as a vocal booth, flat on a wall as a panel for high frequency treatment, folded in two for broad band treatment, or even folded as a wedge on the back wall for bass trapping. It's a really flexible item, which is exactly what we intended. It's available now (US only)...it's actually been available in "beta" versions for a while...and comes in all the fabric and color choices we have for the rest of our panels. It's not on the website yet, but it will be soon. We can also custom size them to make them a little shorter. Feel free to contact me (Frank) directly with any questions or custom size orders. The special introductory price will be $299 for standard fabrics and $349 for Guilford of Maine fabrics, which will go up to $329 and $379 respectively after the introductory period. Size: 32"(W)x72"(H)x3.5"(W unfolded) ![]() ![]() :

Hey guys, I have an odd shaped corner (a bit less than 90 degrees) that I was thinking of ordering two tri-traps for. Would recommend the screen panel instead as it would fold nicely into less than perfect corners ? |

Love the idea and I can see the use for this product. On an aesthetic level I would find it very uninspiring and draining to look at. If I was a singer forced to stare dead into a flat red or white monolith block it would do little for my performance. know you need to make products a bit 'vanilla' for the tasteless masses, but I would like to see some other material options, designs etc.. just try and "funk" it up a bit. Just my .02c |

![]() or better yet we could do it with Art ![]() It really just comes down to cost/taste and so on. Also I want to stress the point of they can be custom sized so if you want it say '4.5 feet high then that is no problem at all. Really though I do appreciate your comments. | |

Does the bottom of the panel have some kind of protection? If not, it might rub off the fabric....

Looks like an interesting idea and something I could imagine checking out myself if I didn't live in the wrong part of the world. But... Selling a 'beta' product for hundreds of dollars? And it's not software that's easy to update? |
