Maybe because someone had the audacity of lifting off what Bricasti had invested years, sweat and blood into making, without their permission and on top, dub it with a phonetic resemblance and sell it commercially.

Such a statement coming from us may seem hypocritical given the fact the we, ourselves, offer libraries of hardware reverbs. However, we only release versions of hardware which is no longer in production and/or not being sold.

Initially, we asked Bricasti for permission to sample the M7. They did not grant it to us so we terminated the idea and abided by their decision. Then we read in a thread on this very forum that Casey condoned the idea of M7 IRs as long as they were free or of donation-ware character. Since we had already sampled all the M7 factory presets for test purposes, prior to the Bricasti declination, we thought that we'd share what we had made rather than having them sit around on the hard drive.

While we believe in convolution technology we also believe in ethics. Releasing a library prior to consensus from the vendor who is putting bread and butter on the table via his product is not something we are prepared to do ;-)

Hi Drew,

while we're appreciating you wanting to make a donation I have to stress that this library is free and we do not accept donations. An email with a "Thank You" goes a long way

If you want to donate, maybe Bricasti is the better addressee ;-)

This LONE statement sealed the deal for me! I was sitting the fence on whether or not to purchase the Acousticas impulses. I can see by the tone and timbre of these messages that there are REAL, DECENT human beings behind their products! thumbsup

Your "gift" has just won my BUSINESS! Keep up the good work (and attitude) guys!!!

Peace,

Oh my god, this is awesome !!

Thanks a lot

Now I just have to find a convolution plug-in that fits my needs. For now I'm stuck with WizooVerb but I'm not really happy with it, Altiverb is out of my league so I'm digging...

Anyway, my first thought about those impulse is that they're gonna be legen... wait for it... dary !!

Well, thanks anyway.
I already own one of your library sets ... but I'll buy the EMT250 instead of making a donation to show my gratitude.

Thanks to both Acousticas and Bricasti for showing how decent and honourable people can be. Cheers guys.

Knufinke is making a very nice and affordable plug-in : SIR2

If you care to reveal your choice of DAW maybe I can provide you with a few other suggestions.

Jumping on the "can't afford Altiverb, which convolution reverb to use" bandwagon...

I use PT LE on a Mac... I just bought TL Space after seeing how cheap it is, but haven't actually used it yet because Redline Reverb came out then, which I've been using instead... but I gotta try these impulses..

How does TL Space compare to SIR2, and some of the others?

In our opinion TL Space is among the finest and most easy to use great sounding convolvers of today. Probably TL Space is the best bang for the buck. But be sure to get the RTAS version. IRs and TDM can be a hassle since one has to alter instantiations when advancing thru' the RT60'ies

Hi Mike,

you're probably better off using the IR browser in TL Space as it is faster than going via the PT Load menu.

Revolver IRs are coming soon as it is kind of hard using 3rd pty. IRs without proprietary presets.
IR1 is going to take a while and I cannot promise you that they are going to appear at all.
However, if anyone are making the presets for IR1 and want to share them, we'll be happy to include them in the M7 package.

Take Care

Thank you for pointing out SIR2, I have already tried it once but only with the factory IR and I was not impressed... maybe I should give it a second try with this impulse set

FYI, I work with Cubase on PC so VST is my religion

AFAIK, the next killer convolution reverb plug-in is going to be this one, unfortunately there is no release date for now...

A convolution reverb is only as good as the impulse response loaded. SIR2 is doing a good job.

Thanks Chris!

Although the Space designer instructions are correct, I would like to set Space Designer like you guys do with your installer. Here's the way I set up the new Bricasti IR's:

I placed the Bricasti IR folder in the HD/Library/Application Support/Acousticas folder.
I then created an alias of that Bricasti IR folder for Altiverb and placed that alias in the HD/Applications/Audio Ease/Altiverb 6/Impulse Responses folder.
Then I started up TL Space and Imported the Bricasti IR Library from the HD/Library/Application Support/Acousticas/Bricasti M7 folder.

How do I set up Space Designer the way you guys @ Acousticas have the other Libraries set up (installed)?

Hi,

well since Space Designer has a very irritating BUG chances are that you can place the IRs in the main Acousticas folder and SD will still find them. The bug, appearing on many Leopard systems is of the following nature:

SD or Logic doesn't really care what path to the IR is written in the preset. It will utilize Spotlight and search for the file via that. You could even put the IRs in the trash and SD would still find them. Problem is that SD totally ignores the folder in which the IRs are stored. So if you have two identical file names residing in two unique folders, chances are merely 50/50 that Logic will "Pick" the correct one. We have reported those problems to Apple but chances are it will go unfixed the next 2 years. The more users writing Apple about this the better ;-)

If Apple relieves SD of this BUG, then in order for the IRs to be found you would have to either put the IRs in the folder dictated by the preset or make new presets.

IHTH

Chris

Thanks Chris,

What about Tiger and Logic 7, same Bug?

So if everything's cool, I just need to place the M7 Space Designer Presets in the HD/Library/Application Support/Logic/Plug-In Settings/Space Designer folder?

Thanks again...

We have yet to hear about his happening on Tiger.

And yes, the instructions provided by the preset maker are correct.

As I'm admittedly an IR novice (if not beginner), could you elaborate on what makes Revolver presets difficult? If you don't mind of course...

Thx...

And until that happens we aren't going to do it. We would love to, however.

Mike,

well in order to import a non proprietary IR (WAV) into Revolver you have to import the WAV file into Pro Tools, then open the McDSP IR Reader, analyze the WAV and then save it proprietarily via the IR Reader to Revolver format.
With I.E., Altiverb, all you gotta do is put the WAV files into the IR folder of Altiverb, hit Re-Scan IR Folder and you are good to go.

All our commercial libraries come with those presets made for you. But the process in lengthy.

Thanks for the clarification...I have Revolver, but I don't have Altiverb, so I didn't realize it was a much easier process with Altiverb.

Thanks for this library. I'm really looking forward to trying it. For what it's worth, I own/use all of your libraries via Revolver, and they land on ever mix (with extremely satisfying results to my ears). Very happy customer who will definitely repeat business... thumbsup
