I was wondering do you guys place the IR's on a folder in the system drive or sample drive for best performance? I'm using SIR2 and have been switching the IR's to my system drive, audio drive and sample drive to figure out the best performance and haven't noticed any difference so far. thanks

My guess is that it's not going to make any difference. The plug has to load the entire impulse response at startup for the convolution calculation and from there on it's all CPU with little disk interaction with the impulse responses. So more CPU cores will help, but more or different disks won't. I think.

Regards,

John

Loaded up some of these impulses and they are excellent. I can't even imagine what the real box sounds like! A BIG thanks to everyone at Bricasti and Acousticas for making them available.

Hey,guys
I have TC R4000,and it is Great.
But I try Bricasti IR into TL Spase and made some quick test vs my HW TC R4000.
I have to say that I will use Bricasti IR maybe half of the time.
There is realy some magic how Bricasti sound, not like a revreb,it is sound like
a dream f'n realistic.
But my R4000 is true stereo(You know what I am mean) and has some presets ,that I think You do not achieve with Bricasti.
I give 10 points for Bricasti and 10 points for R4000.

Big ,Big Thank's for Acousticas

So does this link still work for others? I just tried but it wouldn't download....

The good thing about LA convolver is precisely that it lets you take care of pre- and post EQ, delay etc with your own fav plugs... but to answer your question, the best (while somewhat ugly) convo around in those I've recently checked is SIR2. You may wanna give it a try. Not very cheap, but well worth it.

How do you approach modulation with IRs? I've heard of using Mod Delay in PT or Chorus in Logic, but does anyone have any good guidelines to start with?

pull up a modulation plug-in (chorus, phaser, flanger) as an insert on the reverb return, after the reverb, and twist around till it does something you like...

what more of a guideline do you need?

I was thinking more along the lines of generally suitable modulation speeds and depths, wet / dry ratios... some good starting points.

Acousticas have made some guidelines (for PT and the Chorus plug in Logic), but they haven't posted anything about them so far.

Any chance, Acousticas?

(Basically, I'm just interested).

Oh God. Well, apparently Number 6 was asking if there was any particular thing to look for, any artefact to be wary of or any particular tool of the trade that could help, to anybody who would have modulated a static reverb a million times and be so kind as to share his findings.

Yeah, use your ears. Thanx.

i'm having problems clipping my nails to the right length.... i guess i'll wait for someone to write a guideline.

The optimum is 0.5mm, isn't it? You can get away with 1mm in analog, as it's a little more forgiving. Use good quality clippers though.

Is it me or do the m7 impulses change pitch at higher sample rates like 96k?

I just wanted to say thank you to Chris and especially Casey. I listened to the comparison clips and it is obvious that the real M7 (please stand up) sounds smoother and more realistic. Having said that, I enjoyed messing around with the London Plate IR today with some vocals I recorded for fun. I left the file at the same resolution I recorded it at 24 bit, 48 kHz wave.

Just ordered an M7, partly on the back of hearing these impulses and what people have said about the unit itself. Looking forward to a lovefest with it when it arrives next week or the one after that!! Will report back... I hope it comes with V2 (probably not)...

I'm late to the party here, but am really impressed with these IRs. the Rooms are way better than my Altiverb impulses. Just beautiful. thanks very much for posting them. I'm definitely picking up an M7 for the studio now. Thank you Acousticas and Casey- well done.

Could someone who knows tell me which files to put in the Altiverb Impulse response folder? I unzipped it and it has Logic Presets and some other stuff, sorry I'm a bit confused how to get this working with Altiverb...

thanks
