1. LINE6 POD2 FARM: I went back to propllerhead.se this morning and did a quick search on LINE6 devices there. The link I selected from the list alluded to the fact that Record 1.0.1 download is supposed to fix Line6 dual tones in POD2 Farm. Well I clicked on that and it took me to the 1.5.1 download link that I already had, but what I did not do prior to installing and authorizing REASON 6 was to uninstall Record completely prior to running the 1.5.1 installer as I just found out this apparently is a requirement.. They also said to disable the codemeter but I could not find that in my Windows 7 control panel installer program remover. Anyway long story short – Guess what? It still doesn’t work. I reinstalled Record 1.5.1 clean and reauthorized it at the website and same thing happened as the previous post and the line 6 dual tone thingy still doesn’t work to call a line 6 dual tone pod2 file into the REASON6 line 6 virtual device and use the files like a vst plugin in the app. Oh snap!

So the workaround is to use a line6 hardware device such as a Guitarport or PODX3 or Pro or and HD Series device or whatever and set the program audio device to LINE6 ASIO and record guitar direct into Record from the hardware device. But if you do not have the hardware device I guess you’re SING LOY GI.

2. MIDI EXPORT: I created a song with multiple midi layers and it did in fact export it as a multiple midi file. I think I was testing it yesterday on a demo song and these are read only maybe. Anyway multiple midi file mode works perfectly.

3. REWIRE and EXPORT AUDIO: Still cannot export a song in multiple audio layers other than a 2BUS file, and Rewire will only still stream 2 BUS tracks. So instead of all the Rewire steps in the previous post just print the two tracks and send to a folder to read into another app of choice for VST use. A multiple audio file export would have to be two tracks at a time, kind of like freezing tracks on VST heavy systems and printing these to reduce overhead and exporting 2 tracks at a time. A real PITA.

4. The software folks at Propellerhead are probably scratching their heads reading this because a large slice of their market is RIPRAP-SHONUFF-WHATITIS-MUAFUGGA-ELECTRONICA-DJ-GETYOLOOPSLICEON bliss and not really well thought out nor designed for use as a real virtual audio mixer for large scale productions for interface with other DAWS or outboard platforms efficiently.

If Propellerhead fixes these issues they will have a superlative composition and virtual mixing application and solution to meet ALL clients needs. Yes boys and girls, the key word this morning is ‘Inclusion’ to wit: including all the NON RIPRAP-SHONUFF-WHATITIS-MUAFUGGA-ELECTRONICA-DJ-GETYOLOOPSLICEON personnel such a myself. In the Interim the workarounds work fine.

Besides all that is a really nice application and the fact that REASON 6 is really Record now with a Reason engine and features underlying it with the additional new features as well as an excellent virtual SSLesque mixer and an SSLesque 2BUS Comp as well and is fully x64 compatible now and the added refills and sound engine makes it a clearly a marvelous composition tool that it actually is.*

I love the concept in both Record & Mixbus, but as far as Record goes I will not be able to switch or implement it because that means I will lose all my 'paints' that I love. I understand the stability part behind Propellerhead's decision not to support third party plug ins, but surely the ideal part would have been to support them & give a user 2 choices:

1) Not to use 3rd party plug ins & improve stability;
2) Let user have access to 3rd party software realising that DAW MAY be less stable & suffer an occasional crash just like all others do.
