Producer, Rupert Hine - workshop British Grove Studios, London, UK 12th May 2009

The APRS is pleased to announce a SPECIAL EVENT
taking place at British Grove Studios
on Tuesday 12th May at 6.30 for 7.00pm

Legendary music producer, Rupert Hine, will be presenting a sample of his renowned “4 minutes later” creative workshop which explores ways to get the best in creativity from the initial writing/capturing of an idea phase through to the final recording/mixing. It is a must for any recording professional and facility provider keen to share the insights gathered over years of eclectic studio recording experience.

Many producer/writers have to juggle a portfolio of skills which embrace many different creative contributions be they musical, technical, business acumen or even psychological … and sometimes psychiatric. The Workshop has been described as a 'template for all creative communication’ involving a range of creative ideas, skills and practices performed by record producers, engineers and self-produced artists.

Rupert’s unique career from ‘both sides of the glass’ has informed an approach to the application of creative ideas that ensures the inspiration of a writer’s original ‘idea’ is not dampened by the perspiration of getting it through hurdles of arrangement, recording, mixing without losing the essence of style at the core of a recording artist‘s development.

Responding and providing his own take on the tricky business of managing and maximizing delicate talents will be audio polymath, and recently elected Chairman of the MPG, Steve Levine. Steve has provided his magic touch to the recorded performances of a similarly eclectic collection of artists (see below) exploiting a wealth of experience and skill in every aspect of the creative recording process.

Space is limited so please contact Francesca Smith at info@aprs.co.uk
or phone 01803 868600 to reserve a place.
Refreshments will be provided courtesy of the APRS.

Rupert has worked with an eclectic mix of hit artists from Kevin Ayres & Nico, via Howard Jones & Tina Turner, through Stevie Nicks & Suzanne Vega, to Chris de Burgh and Bob Geldof. Last year he produced iTunes #2 most downloaded album worldwide 2008 with the multi-artist double-album The Art of Peace - ’Songs for Tibet’ which reputedly caused China to block the iTunes store to 1.3 billion people after it became a hit.

Steve is a Grammy-winning record producer who has produced albums and songs for bands such as The Beach Boys, Culture Club, Gary Moore, Ziggy Marley and Stevie Wonder. He is a regular guest speaker for companies such as Yamaha, Korg, and Apple Computer and a recipient of many awards including BPI Producer of the Year, Music Week Top Singles Producer, as well as a Grammy for his work with Deniece Williams. He was also the co-presenter of The Record Producers for BBC radio.

Rupert Hine is amazing! His THINKMAN-record (The Formula) made me want to become a producer!

Thanks Rupert and go check this event out if you have a chance.

Cheers,
Marc
