It looks like these are only stereo or MS plugins, no mono. That is a bummer. Anyone know for sure?

Working fine as mono inserts here, AU in Logic 8 (either as mono or mono -> stereo).

Does most of the mastering software packages out there have
what is the equivalent of the T-Clipper? Basically it cuts everything over
0db so you can raise the lower dynamics? Or is this only available in
the TRacks package or hardware only?

I haven't seen much soft-clipping stuff in mastering packages. The clipper in T-racks is OK. I use the oxford inflator mainly for that purpose though.

It's absolutely great for compressing the nuts out of a vocal or drum track and blending it with your natural channel.

I think those two are very different. For a start, the T-RackS Clipper doesn't do anything until you get to a threshold and then starts clipping (a'la a basic compressor or limiter). The Inflator does what it does at a lower level and then gets more intense with input - it's a color machine.

To be honest, I don't think the T-RackS Clipper has too much competition in what it does (in TDM and RTAS land - I don't know about AU or VST).

They are very different indeed. It's not really fair to compare them, you're right. But there aren't much "soft-clipping" plugins out there, and when you use the inflator without the 'clip 0db' button engaged, it tends to get in the soft-clipping zone I think. I once had a demo of the plugs and the Sonnox guy said the same.

Fairchild 670 and Pultec plugin test using UAD, T-Racks and URS

Someone took the time to do a very nice A/B test between these emulations vintage that we're all going crazy about.

Very cool & interesting video to watch

Just to clarify, if I bought the newer 3.1 T racks deluxe plug-inssuite, do I get the option of just using 1 x of the plugins or does the whole lot come up when used?
I want to be able to use the singles but I dont want to spend $99 on each when I can get the whole lot for $299, but if the whole lot does not come with singles option I would have to rethink the purchase.
Cheers

This is a great video. Worth a new topic. Amazed by the hi-freq. rolloff that the UAD Pultec induces. I think the T-Racks plugs do very, very well.

I actually liked the T-Racks versions on the Fairchild and Pultec tests the most.

Is that when used in PTLE? Curious on what version you're running because that's a big factor for me here running LE v7.4 on a PPC G5

Me too. I've been using the Fairchild on my master bus lately, sounds amazing. Crank the input and than use the treshold to apply +/- 2db GR during the loudest parts.
