I'm pretty sure that the new X-verb is true stereo, where as the Powercore Verbs are not. Of course, the quality will be another question.....

You do the right thing to wait until the software is stable, Jim

Looking forward to test the version V3 and X-verb when it is released!!

Keep Up

This is a serious customer care! I just bought Vocalstrip and I'm happy with it!
I'll wait for v3 and x-verb in a chilled way. Thank you!

thanks much... going to get X-EQ finally. I'm passing on all of the compressor based tools, thinking that outboard is best for me in that regard, but really looking forward to demoing X-Verb. I really need a good reverb now and not too excited about the latest Lexicon and Bricasti platforms from a value perspective.

We will be making an official statement on our website to follow this.

I don't feel good about this, and the whole team are focussed on getting the right software out.
Well then WHY did SSL ever mention a release date!

Come on guys .... "grab the floating voters cash"
UA special offer $500 with UAD-2 till June 30th .... LOL

I like the idea of buying a Duende PCI-e, but boy, you guys try really hard to put me off buying into this SSL train wreck.

First, thanx for the offer (finally get X-eq and Vocalstrip)

Jim can you tell us if we have to wait for months or for weeks????

Cause I have pro work to do in the coming month and there is still crackles &#*#! on my tracks....boring....

So, I understand that you cannot give a "real" date, but maybe an average???

Thank you

You shouldn't buy a Duende. Honestly. Buy something else. Save SSL the future frustrations you'd bring when it doesn't meet your expectations in some unrealisticway. The bipolar, hypocritical, passive-aggressive comment says it all. They appear guilty of an overly-optimistic release estimate, but they're a "train wreck" by your measures. I hear UAD has a special going - might be worth checking into.

Don't send him to UAD, let Waves have him.

You're obviously a member of the DNS(don't know shit). You don't even have the card and you call ssl a train wrecktutt

Sure the duende classic was a nightmare(mostly due to FW bandwidth limitations), but the PCie has always beenworking FLAWLESSLY on my MP 8 core since i bought it.

SSL is so "train wreck" that is giving US 50% off their plug ins to apologize for the delay
of version 3. Yeah sure go ahead and buy waves.. It's more of a titanic sinkingstike

I think many people seem to have suffered under the Duende in its various incarnations and that can be seriously frustrating in a market where you are used to paying your money and getting a product that works well. Ultimately I sympathise with these users and think SSL are a big enough company with enough resources to get the job done right. Yes they might be nice people but in business you need to deliver a professional product. Waves despite their toxic business plan - at least deliver a professional if costly service and reliable product.

Its nice that you are defending SSL and their Duende when it works does look very tempting however I think if UA can deliver a comparatively better functioning product SSL can sort their issues out and fight their own battles - and in the meantime take the associate fall-out attached to delivering a unreliable product to a professional market. From what Ive heard In their favor has been a great customer service - so they are at least no TC Electronic in that department...

And at some point I may go for the PCIe if V3 looks stable and X-Verb is high end reverb.

I hear you. I do feel bad for those who can't get Duende to work. Been there. It sucks. But not everyone deserves sympathy.

yes I agree that if someone has a nightmare with something they have to at somepoint draw a line under it and move on...

I bought UAD 1's. Perfect 100%
I bought Powercore Express. Perfect 100%

I actually "want" to buy a Duende PCI-e (although all my instintcs tell me it might be a nightmare)

And yes I'll piss and moan if it is - and yes I'll be a complete pain in SSL's neck, with emails, phone calls and public forum moans.

Why .... because it's my right as the customer to do so. If they said to me at point of purchase

"Actually Mr Years only give us 50% of the asking price, coz the card only works 50% of the time" then fair enough I'd put up and shut up.

But as SSL will be taking 100% of the money from me (a slice of my childrens inheritance) then they can deliver 100% of the product. Big ask - I think not.

That's how business works. If they can't hack it then don't put out products. It's not complex.

So this week I actually think I may order a Duende PCI-e. But speaking as a tight fisted Yorkshire man - it better bloody work perfectly. Otherwise what are SSL selling here.

So you don't own and have never tried a Duende, but your post assumed Duende would not work, that the train would be off the track before ever being built.

Hmmm... I wonder where you could have gotten that opinion...?

And people say there's no harm in posting irrational experiences on GS. This, friends, is what happens when uninformed people trust angry strangers who are releasing that anger on internet forums.

And it's ironic that you personally have this opinion while at the same time posting the type of comment that creates that fear in the first place. That was my earlier point about irony.

I do hope Duende works for you. It seems that, if you wait for V3, your odds will be improved.

You are remarkably similar to Mr. Robert Hanson. Work-for-hire reviewer of UAD and TC Electronics gear, certain opponent of Duende (unless paid to think otherwise). I mean REMARKABLY similar. I mean like "same guy" similar.

I just googled that name...

If true, this would be a depressing portrayal of how the "pay to play" review game has transitioned from print to the internet forums. That would be very sad. tutt

It's one thing to come on GS as an informed and opinionated professional with a legitimate gripe about the competition, but to "create" bad hype while hiding your own identity, then pretending that you're even considering buying from the competition in an attempt to seem legitimately concerned but really only using that as a mask to further suppress the nature of your true intentions... Very sad indeed.

If someone were to do that, it would be a new low...

Your joking right.

I'm not Robert Hanson - who ever he may be?

And for a manafacturer (Bricasti) to even enter into that kind of conjecture shows just how bizzare the internet is!!

Let me assure you - I'm a muso from Northern England in the UK - so your way way wrong.

Why on earth you would come to that conlusion is odd to say the least and frankly paraniod.

The internet is indeed a strange place

My opinion on the Duende is indeed based on the many negative posts found on this forum (all prosumably generated by Robert Hanson LOL) and on the experience of a few friends.

All I said was if I bought a Duende I'd expect it to work 100% - I'm sure you'd expect me to expect the same if I bought an M7?

I have actually had a demo (thanks to Digital Village) in my studio of the M7 and it sounded and functioned brilliantly - just as I expected from a professional piece of kit.

I expect no less from SSL in respect of the Deunde, otherwise they should not be selling it, should they - I really see little room for debate here, as I'm not refering to it's sound quality or provernance - I resonably just expect it to work 100% in exchange for my hard earned money.

Plugins Registration Help!

Sorry, but I have a problem with purchasing plug-ins on the SSL's Shop ...
I have a second hand Duende Classic and when at the time of purchase I put the ID card, appears written "Not Found"!!
Do you know if you can register/purchase plug-ins only with the original mySsl login with which you have registered the Duende???

I'm not sure. I purchased three plugins from SSL's website today, for three different Duendes, using two different accounts, and it all went smoothly. Unfortunately, I'm not entirely sure if the original registration MUST be used. I'm not even sure if I'd used my original login for each unit. You could try it.
