| I just have to say who cares if its an expensive dongle or what. The Pcie card is roughly in the same ballpark pricewise as the Waves SSL bundle, and the bundled channel strip and bus compressor sound so much better its not even fair. Definitely reasonably priced. |

| Still big difference for me. I have no expresscard (technically I have but no empty slot). Then I can use Duende via Firewire but can't UAD. |

Don't worry, they wrangled in the bulk of the problems a few software versions back and have improved upon it several more times since then. A lot of people don't realize this, mainly due to negative posts on GS by people who stopped using it before the revisions. A sampling of Duende users would prove the high success rate. Unfortunately it didn't work for everyone, regardless of their efforts, but I think that number has shrunken quite low now.

| Yes, you could address the one thing I asked -- "which was the last version of their software you used?" This makes all the difference in the world. |

| Yes. Search GS and you'll see that there have been problems, but some people are getting it to work. In general, classic Duendes aren't working well at high sample rates. I wonder how V3 will do in this respect. With the load shared between their card and the host CPU it may have a better chance. |

I had problems at 1st but all it took was a PCIe firewire card install. No different then the hardware config games you have to do with UAD. This is why they don't even risk a firewire release. There are to many 1/2 ass non-audio friendly 1394 chipsets.

it´s unbelievable, that duende should work on V3 with 96 channels at 96k... maybe it´s working, or i´m hoping so, but i won´t be one of the first users like i was back then.

| They are clearly not saying that... "Duende V3 requires Intel Core 2 (or equivalent power processor for PC owners) or Intel Mac based (for Mac owners) computers to run. Customers with computers utilising older, or lower powered processors will not be able to run Duende V3 software or run the new generation of SSL plug-ins." So AMD phenom processors should work also. |

| weird... I watched the video from musikmesse and the SSL guy says intel only. He says "will only run on Intel based machines which is one of the caveats of V3" maybe he means the X-Verb? YouTube - SSL Duende V.3 & X-Verb - MusikMesse 2009 |

I had duet, drives and 2xDuendes. No way they could collaborate. I thought it was Duendes blame, but I then discovered It was duet's bandwidth hunger. The main problem for your iMac is that you get 2 FW ports, but on just one FW Bus.

| I'm actually disappointed by this move. I don't need 128 channels. I'm fine with 64. I bought the Duende so my CPU would be free for other things, like synthesis or convolution reverb. They should allow people to make a choice between hybrid or only DSP acceleration. I'd love to hear the X-Verb, but I doubt I'll upgrade to v3 if it taxes my CPU. |

| Entrainer I agre, we already have alot of issues with the cpu in PTHD8, so if this will require alot of cpu it will be even worse than the firewire solution ![]() When is it downloadable? |

| Hi! Just want to understand a thing: If i've upgrade my duende mini from 16 to 32 channels in V2 (two month ago), will I get 64 channels in V3 for free as buyers of duende mini expanded pack? ... I hope so, but it's not clearly said in ssl's website...

| No. The V3 software is free, but it costs money to expand the channels. I imagine it's a code that opens channels on the CPU for you. |
