Doepfer Dark Energy - Modular goes Stand-Alone

Dark Energy is the first stand alone synth from Doepfer, well known for their modular systems. Dark Energy is a monophonic stand-alone Synthesizer with USB and Midi interface. The sound generation and all modulation sources are 100% analog, only the USB and Midi interface contains digital components.

Is Doepfer going for a new design scheme? Or is this the first of a new series?

IIRC, they started out with something like this, and they had at least one other TB-type rack unit (mentioned above), so this isn't the first... but cool nonetheless.

Here, I found some stuff in my vast archives :

- oops, sorry about the redundancies... notice the dates, too. I saw a couple 1981's.

Dieter has been in this for the long haul!

added: tried to detach some some of that... didn't work - oh, well.

more added: or uh, removed... anyway, from these humble beginnings arose a modular empire!

It looks really cool for someone like me who wants patchablity, but does not have the $$ for a modular.

Looking at the specs, I can see lots of similiarities with the beloved MS-404. I always liked the fast LFOs back then. I regret selling mine so this thing is pretty interesting for me

Yes, I've heard good things about the 404... maybe this standalone A-111-5 will be nice, too - anybody used the module version?
