Nice. Would be cool if it was for Windows also. Even though the original editor still works even on Vista.

Hi MelodyMan,
I upgraded to Vista a couple of years ago, but I have never been able to get the j edit software to install. I get a Virtual Device Error. Here's a pic of the error message. Any help would be appreciated. I miss my j edit software! Thanks.

edit to add: I just noticed through search that dr.bob never got an answer to this question:
J Station
:-(

Apparently Midi Quest does edit the J-Station on the PC side according to this link:

It seems that you have a problem extracting the install-files, not the installation itself. Maybe you can't write to the folder you want to extract to. Vista is peculiar about that, you have to give permission to write data to a folder. I'm at work now, but there is a setting you have to change for that folder.

Thanks!

Thanks for the help guys. I turned off all of the Vista permissions and it's still a no go. Could it be because the j edit is 16 bit and the Vista system is 32 bit? Weird. I contaced Johnson and the support guy told me that there was no install for Vista and that they had no plans to make one.

MIDI Quest looks like the way to go. It's like 400 bucks though! Not sure I want the J station GUI that bad. LOL

Thanks again for the help.

UPDATE:
I found the solution to J-Edit software not being able to install on Windows Vista and thought I would post it for future reference.

Solutuion:
  1. Click Start->Run and type Regedit. Click OK
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers
3. Right Click "VirtualDeviceDrivers" folder/New->Multi-String Value/Name the value VDD, press Enter

That's it. Works fine.

I have my J Edit Software back!
