Well, Scarbee's had plenty of time to respond, yet remains strangely mum on this subject. I just don't understand why all of a sudden this thing would drop off the face of the earth... and yet, he still has all the demos posted, and a stated 2nd quarter release. If it was out of his hands and into the hands of Alicia and her people, he could just respond to emails and posts and say that.

I know, it's just a sampled piano, but it's by far, the best I've heard.... and if it's not going to see the light of day, I would just like to know, so I can quit caring about this and quit wasting time posting.

Perhaps "Alicia's keys" will be part of the new Akoustik Piano set now that he's with NI.

Or, perhaps she's keeping it for herself.... but then why couldn't Scarbee just tell us that?

Honestly, that brings some ideas in my mind.

A "dream" would be that NI makes ALL NEW recordings together with Scarbee's team for Akoustik Piano 2, while featuring artist's keys.

For example the C7 is Alicia's Keys, the Steinway Someone's Keys and so on...

THAT would be something ;-).

Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here, but I believe this would be the first time a music artist distributed a Virtual Instrument through their own merchandising chain.

Alicia Keys, Ann Mincielli, Nils Liberg and Thomas Skarbye getting together for concept and development was probably a whole lot easier than figuring out how it was going to be marketed from her(Alicia's)own website. I wouldnt doubt that this is where the snag starts.

Pure speculation and time killed while waiting impatiently for an official shout.

This is probably the case. It would sure be nice if Scarbye would just tell us something. anything.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the interest - and sorry for not chiming in but as you know the NI partnership and all just took all my time - last year just had 3 days off including x-mas so...

Anyway since it's Alicia that will release the product I don't have so much influence on the release date - but I have been assured that it WILL be released - probably end of the year.

I am just as impatient as you - as I want you all to get it. It is a very charming piano with lots of soul and our idea was to make in inspirational - so you can write even better songs - and earn more money.

I know Alicia already uses the piano on her new songs and I would not be surprised if piano is released at same time as her next album - it would be a natural thing to do huh? But that is just my guessing...

So - trust me it WILL be released!

In meantime check out NI site and Scarbee Pre-Bass. It will ensure you that our new partnership will only result in even better stuff from my site - and hopefully i will have time to be more social on forums too

cheers

Thomas

Still looking forward to hearing more demos of the VSL Vienna Imperial but from what I've heard so far the Alicia's Keys is far better for what I do. I do realize they are wildly different pianos but the sound in general (from what I can tell thus far of VSL's new offering) is just better/at a higher level to my ears. I still hear a funny resonance in the VSL demos.
Better than Ivory? Really? Not to my ears. These samples sound like a sampled piano to me. Ivory has a more accurate capture of a piano's sound. Garritan Steinway Pro to me sounds like closest to a real piano being recorded. It has more depth after the note has been played.

Way better than ivory in my opinion. It's all subjective I guess! I would never take this for a sampled grand.

Thanks much for the update Thomas! Looking forward to release though I wish it was sooner!

Alicia uses the piano plugin on her new album - try listen to the newly released single: "Doesn't mean anything"

I think we will have the plugin out before end of this year

cheers

Just had a listen to the single-Beautiful song. To fill the niche for a pop-type piano sound, I think this song is a good showcase for that.

This upcoming album is set to release in November. Deductive logic leads me to say that A.K Piano will drop around the same time. Do I win a free copy if I'm right?

The piano can sound very different depending on the EQ. I ran some classical midi pieces through it and it sounded fantastic.

it can sound mellow or bright

Does it also have a midi compression/expansion algorithm to control how hard or soft the sound is? That's how Synthogy Ivory works and it's very effective.

her new CD drops on Dec. 15th. Maybe we'll see it then although I don't really see what reason she would have to release it at the same time other than to say "we used this piano on the record." ??
