Yeah, but Scarbee's not the one putting this product out. He just helped engineer/sample it. That's what makes me nervous. Alicia has enough resources that she doesn't need the money out of this and if she decides she wants to keep this beauty to herself, she will.

It's a sampled piano, meaning it's all about the engineering and programming, so it really is HIS product. Sold through his company. From what I can tell, Alicia has about as much to do with the creation of this product as Kobe Bryant has to do with his model of Nike. It's a name, meant to help promote the product. The piano tech/tuner should get more credit imo. Did she press each key for each sample, each velocity? OK, so it's her piano, but I doubt the assembly line is being held up on her end.

I've always thought it was odd to call it the Alicia Keys piano. That will turn off some potential buyers who fear that it might be voiced or honed only for her style of music. In reality, it'll be much more versatile than the sound of any one particular artist. I say call it Scarbee Grand Piano featuring the piano of Alicia Keys... but I'm no marketing guy so what do I know.

I guess it's a matter of what this (from Scarbee's website) means:

"Alicia's Keys will be released and distributed by the artist herself (So NOT a Scarbee product) and is expected to ship in Q2 - 2009

For more information go to www.aliciakeys.com"

I never knew that she was selling this herself. That turns me off (the distribution, not her). Then yes, it could mean that SHE is holding it up. Or her attorneys. Or the product itself is just not yet ready for prime time.

It does increase the odds that this might not see the light of day. That would be a shame.

I don't care if it's called AK piano or Swampgrass piano... as long as it sounds god and works well, I'd buy it. Only one problem... what about support? I mean, going to an artist for technical support---I'd rather it be Scarbee.....

I agree on the support issue.... I imagine Alicia would have some deal worked out to have Scarbee handle support. And, yeah, I don't care who's name is on it. I only care about how it sounds.... and to my ears, this is the best sampled grand ever. I gotta have it, and I needed it 2 weeks ago.

Support was my concern as well. First-time venture into software for AK's company I believe. If Scarbee handles it, great.

The name doesn't matter to me either, but it's a first impression to a lot of people who know nothing else about it. On the shelf, next to The Ultimate Grand Piano, and VSL Grand, and Un-Frickin-Believable Grand Piano, etc., "Alicia Keys Piano" doesn't have quite the same curb appeal. Just saying.

Strange we can't get an update on this. If anyone has even just a ballpark on price, that would be good to know.

Maybe it turned out so good that AK decided to keep it for her concert use and put it out after she finished with it... in 2018....

That's my concern. It's just weird that Scarbee won't even comment on it.

For me this really is the greatest sounding sampled piano I have ever heard demos from... just wish I knew when it was coming out and how much.

Football, are you saying this link on gregjazz is a sampled piano? If so, who is putting it out?

I guess I haven't heard that demo... yeah, sounds amazing like all the rest of the demos. Why is it on this Greg guy's site? Does he have the piano?

He does not have the piano, he sent the midi file to Scarbee and that's what it sounds like with the Alicia's Keys piano.

I'm pretty impressed.

I'm not sure when he did it. He literally just sent Thomas a midi file of him playing and that's the sound of the Alicia's Keys being triggered by his midi track. It is quite a sound, still would really love to know how much this costs and when it's coming out.

It says on Scarbee's website that his web store and physical office are closed until the 27th of this month. Maybe he'll chime in once he's back...??? It's at least maybe a little hope that this thing will be released.....

You know, I looked right at that message on Scarbee's website and forgot

I can't listen to the demos anymore. It's like a dangling carrot. I'll be ecstatic if Scarbee responds and we find out this will still be released! - --- more like a dangling beer.

Last edited by jayman; 26th July 2009 at 04:36 PM.. Reason: added beer - I'm fine with or without carrots.
