Looks interesting, although I wish NI would make the service center application reliably function before doing anymore R&D for new products.

Ableton?

Veerrry interesting...

Oh well. It was a picture/blurb about a new NI drum machine, operating on the Kore engine but with a hardware controller. RRP $599 IIRC.

Oh I'm getting a good vibe about Maschine, contrary to the general lack of enthusiasm. If it allows drum sequencing to be achieved in an intelligent live environment with a dedicated hardware controller, then it certainly fills a gap in the market, and I'll be picking one up pronto.

that is the real question. if it allows you to sequence, select & edit drums, and whatnot, then it would be interesting. someone needs to create a controller that would eliminate(minimize) the use of a mouse. hopefully this is it.

I think it looks completely badass.

The questions I have are 1) what kind of editing of the sounds can you do from the hardware (as opposed to going into the computer) and 2) will it have an elegant workflow?

Anyway looking forward to more details.

How so? Software instruments are the hot product...why not create a dedicated controller to go with it? No different than a 003/Pro Tools, or Torq/Xponent.

To me as well, this is just a marketing ploy to get attention towards the software, it will have the same fate as NI Kore. When Kore first came out with that hardware controller it gained a lot of attention because of that fancy controller but later it was just being sold as software alone because the hardware really wasn't that necessary, I imagine the same will happen here. Unless this software is live performance oriented then the hardware might be a necessity.

Post #19 is my favorite post on GS ever.

I love that the title is the same as the body of the text.

There's something hilarious about that.

+1 I never understood the concept of the Kore as well.

I watched all the videos and i'm really amazed!
The NI Maschine seems to be a BEAST!
It might become a huge step for my DAW-workflow...

I got some questions for you guys with experience with MASCHINE:

1. Can you tell me something about the integration in the host? i usually program my beats in logic 8, which is where i do all my breaks, for example in-front of a chorus.
Is it easy to trigger/mute the different drum-sounds from logic, as i don't have any direct access to the single midi-events in my general logic-midi-arrangement?

2. Would you use maschine also for sampled material, just like an MPC or would you still Prefer Kontakt 3?

3. Does this thing make battery needless?

How many of the drums sounds in Maschine are from SS, and are they the same as what you have in your already available sample sets?

This looks amazing. Kind of like a bit of MPC, bit of Battery, bit of Kontakt, bit of AIR transfuser, bit of GURU along with a controller that can be used for other apps too. I could see this as a nice live performance tool.

However, I think it is overpriced. Maybe the street price will be a bit lower.
