BeesNeez James Tube Microphone

The James is a Large diaphragm Tube Condensor Microphone, hand built in Australia.

The James' tone is lush yet mid forward and has none of the associated sibilance issues present in many modern microphones.

The James is built around the BeesNeez K47b capsule. This capsule is similar to the K47 capsules found in the Neumann U47's in that it is a single backplate 34mm capsule. It does though have a different hole configuration and depth helping to create the crystal clear and mid forward tones.

The James' tube is a hand selected European NOS. It has a very quiet noise floor and great frequency response.

The mic circuit is point to point wired, paper in oil and film capacitors and is followed by a Cinemag Transformer.

The James features a 10db pad, and a selectable SRO (sibilance Roll Off)

The Introductory price is 899USD.

Hey!

I have only listened on my DT770 headphones, but I say your mics sound very good, but they do have a quite pronounced sound to them. Not miles away from the Pearlman TM1. Very "Neumann" and "rock" to my ears. The VTB sounded terrible! Like a laser sword to your eardrum. Ouch. The P248 had the general sound character I like, but your mics seem to "pick up" better. Will you do less voiced mics in the future? Why all this u47-type sound? Gimme 251! ;-) Or 800g...

Cheers,

Johan

Just a few more tit bits of information.

The James Ships with; Suspension Mount, Power Supply, Lead and Flight Case.

The Case size is quite small meaning that international shipping is lower. thanks.

Para 1

Ben
The James looks great...but more importantly sounds awesome!!
The last lot of vocal samples of the Jade and James were really good!!!
I personally think the Peluso mics sound very lacking, like there is a whole area in the upper mids that just is not there...but a thin peak at about 12k and up, very pinched Chinese fidelity...I guess some maybe like this lack of proper upper mid presence.
I really like the look of the Para 1 too...it looks like it came out of a British army depot from the 60's LOL!! pretty cool!!
I would love to hear what it sounds like, the texture control is a great idea...point to point and valves and transformers...it has to be good!
Cheers

Beautiful looking mics! I'll be checking the samples in a sec, but I'm not familiar at all with Peluso's.

Do you happen to have an 87, 67, or any of the other popular mics lying around for comparisons? That would help a ton. Thanks.

You will NEVER find a mic out of china built like this one.

The Body is a standard body that is widely available. Where the difference lies is in the circuit and capsule as well as the transformer. The capsule is hand made by me and the circuit is an original design and is assembled point to point. The tube is European NOS. The transformer is a Cinemag.

As with all of my products, i offer a full money back guarantee and a lifetime warranty.

Cheers.

Hi Ben,
I like what I am hearing. Have all of these been recorded through the Para 1? Any plans to make the Para 1 a rack mount unit? I have very little desktop real estate.

PEACE

All of these were recorded through the crappiest preamp i could find; the motu 8 pre.

I didn't want to give people a false impression of the mics sound. i figure if you like the mic through a crappy pre, you'll love it through a good pre.

I do plan to make a rack mount preamp. the Para2 it will be 2 channel rack mount, variable impedance, 3 stage switchable gain structure and texture control.

cheers

I think the body may be made in china and maybe some of the internals? and then moded and built in Australia. This makes sense. Wouldnt mind trying one out.
Any confirmation on this, I dont wanna make false statements.

Why is it so hard to read a forum.

It clearly says Body from china all parts inside assembled here in OZ.
With a Capsule made here and other high quality components.

So like Peluso but with the Capsule not just Assembled here but made here.
