Pete's Place - BAC Beta Tester

Pete’s Place Audio
BAC Beta Unit

We are looking for one individual to Beta Test the BAC Compressor that has a good, working understanding of Compressors and uses the 500 Series Format.

The selected Beta Tester will have the Pete’s Place Audio BAC Compressor for 3 weeks. At the end of that period, the BAC Beta-Test Unit will be given in exchange for their co-operation in providing us with this testing.

The requirements are:

1. A knowledge and understanding of compressors in a professional audio situation.

2. Frequent user of the 500 Series Format products.

3. Own or have access to more than just one rack, i.e. 6-space, 10-space API, BAE, OSA, A-Designs Audio, Avedis Audio, Purple Audio, etc.

4. Own or have access to one additional compressor.

5. Live in the U.S. (Please note that we will not include an overseas Beta Tester, at this time, due to shipping requirements. IF we need to ship the unit back for adjustments, we need to do so in a quick and economical way).

6. Full-Time tracking and mixing would be ideal, but not necessary.

7. Must be open-minded and creative.

8. Must be able to follow directions and have good communication skills.

I will collect candidates from this thread for 2 weeks starting 12/1/2008. I will pick who I feel is the right candidate for the test.

So, please, post here in this thread. I will be checking in on regular basis.

Please, DO NOT PM me... I will only take from the list of posters.

I hope to make this fun. So, please, let’s keep this on topic!

Thank you,
Lisa Montessi

Cool

Yuss!!

Hi Lisa!

I have an OSA 8 slot box and API 6B box. Purple Action is the only 500 series comp, but I own many others in 19" format.

I will do tons of tracking, mainly vocals, but also many other sources too: bass, guitar, drums, keyboards, et al..

I live in Houston, TX. Tell Peter I said ""!

I'm your man.

Hello Lisa..

I am in los angeles and would be very interested in Beta testing for you.
I have experience beta testing and providing feedback for retailers of both boutique products and large lines.

I have 88 500 series slots available in the Tree Audio 500 console I commissioned and continue to work with/on here and am thus intimately familiar with the 500 series products and how they vary and function. I currently have 4 different 500 compressors in the console as well as numerous outboard compressors and I have access to an AP.

You can read my testimonial of the T500 console here:
Tree Audio 500 by Inward Connections - 24 Channel | VintageKing.com

Feel free to pm me for more contact info, I would be very excited in testing this product and putting it through it's paces in a professional environment. I have been anticipating it's release for quite a while.

thanks

Chris

I've not Beta tested in the past, but would love to, so here's my CV.......

I would be using the BAC during the course of two mixing sessions, and three tracking sessions....... I am a somewhat new convert to the 500 series phenom, and I'm a huge fan of the format now after using it for the last year........

I'll have the following comps next to it: 1176, LA2A, LA3A, UA 177, Manley VariMu, API 2500, Distressor, Neve 2254e, Smart C1, Chandler TG1, Eventide Omnipressor, Standard Audio LevelOr, Daking comp, API 525......

I'm a full time guy...... I do nothing else except sleep, so it would be put through its paces, for sure.

Would be honoured to do it!

I have two BAE racks & one A Designs 500hr rack.
Compressors include Purple Action, Buzz Potion, Buzz Essence, Standard Audio Level Or, Aphex CX-1 as well as some budget stuff (RNC, Art, CL 7720). My 2x1176 & 525's are unfortunately not 100% ATM for comparison.

I have basic test equipment and decent technical grasp and I'm willing to make minor changes (per your advice, of course) to avoid the back and forth shipping.

Too bad there is no BAC for a tester overseas, otherwise I would have been the most perfect and ideal candidate. Of course!

Nonetheless good luck to all of you! I am sure Brad did an awesome job on this one!

Hello Lisa!

I'd love to take the bac for testing. I work full time as an engineer in Baltimore, Md. I have an api 10 space rack as well as an old aphex 4 slotter I take with me to other studios.

Most of the compressors I own are abused rather than used, but I have a dbx 160x, innovonics 201, 1176, pacific recorders multilimiter, and a pair of 525s. A studio I track in often has a 2-1176, distressors, some valley people thingies, 160As, and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting.

I work on all things rock, from indie to metal.

Oh and uh.....pick me pick me!!!!!!

hi Lisa!

I don't qualify very well but if you come up short on interested testers I'd try to help out! I'd even take a purdy picture of it for ya but I think you are squared away on that too.

I guess I just miss being part of things and wanted to say hi . . . you Montessi's (and your products) RULE!

Best of luck with the new compressor, I'm sure it will be a winner too! thumbsup

You friend always,

Hi -
I would be interested in the beta testing. I was not sure if you wanted a resume or just a quick list of qualifications that meet your original post. Thanks for the open call ...

Hell yes, I'm in.

I'm local (Northridge) so, I'd be happy to pick it up and drop it off for any tweaks that might be needed. I'm doing post, voiceovers, hip-hop, R&B, and tracking and mixing for local bands.

Peter might remember me, as he dropped my Reddi off at the studio some months back.

I have a API 10 space and an API 6 space (I also have access to one of your vertical 2 space racks). The outboard comps I have for comparison would be 2 Vintage 525s, 2 1176 reissues, Alan Smart c2 and 2 DBX160vus.

Good luck with the new product.

I don't know about the others but Pan60 has done quite a lot of testing and reviews in the past.
I would go for him.

I say, let an inexperienced guy like myself test it. That way, you know if it'll withstand days of vigorous incorrect settings and such, it'll be a breeze in the hands of Professionals....

Thank you Everyone for Posting!

I'll Make a decision ASAP. I will be contacting the individual I believe is best suited for this Beta Test - directly.

Just a quick observation... over 1,000 views, and only a small handful of posts... Maybe the requirements were to high?

Not sure if you need any more beta testers, but I am available. I am a producer/engineer/musician. I work on a variety of music such as hip hop, gospel, pop, rock, and commercial work. In any given week I record vocals, guitar, bass, and synths. I record drums around twice a month. I have an API 6 space lunch box with (2) 512's, a great river, and a purple audio action compressor. I got one spot open. let me know.

Even 1 rack 6B would have been considered. But, we are already determining our Beta Tester from the previous posts.

Thank you for your interest, in any event.
