Point taken, but respect to Gary for making such an elegant solution.
I'm suprised there hasn't been more of noise about the release of the RTAS version.

It's very cool.

I tried to "make some noise" about it in another thread, then some guy came along to rain on my parade by telling me I should post everything that happens on the Mellowmuse forum and I don't understand "community".
Like some kind of hall monitor for the forum.
So, I let it go.

anyway.........
The cool thing about this, is that even if Digi does do ADC soon, I think Gary's solution is much more ACCURATE. If he could get his plug access to the internal bussing of PT, then I say ATA is unstoppable.

GO GARY, GO!!!

oh boy.. waiting for this plug... however, in the video you linked above - Gary is calling up the ATA plug from a wrapped plugins folder (VST) - so this is not a true example of RTAS format..... wait for it... wait for it...

It is native win/osx RTAS now, or did you just mean its not a video of the RTAS...?

Clearly you didn't... and you didn't make any noise... there wasn't a product to make noise about yet if you RE READ your post: http://www.gearslutz.com/board/new-p...y-pt-le-9.html

You BUMP a thread with NO INFORMATION while others have been patiently waiting info on the arrival of the RTAS port and then you call it NOISE... even though you stated you read the Mellowmuse Forum... but didn't bother to quote it on GS and give fellow GS's an update on what was shared there... how is that noise or promoting a product, I think it was rather unhelpful.

I commend Gary on the RTAS version, looking great and look forward to the next update.

Yeah, since ATA is taking one plug-in slot I wouldn't want to be left with only 4 plug-ins per channel (on certain tracks like vocals is pretty common to fill up the slots), with PT8 that won't be a problem thumbsup. PT LE will definitively get very powerful.

Thank U Mellowmuse!!

I'm a little late finding out about this plug, but thank God somebody did it! Assuming ATA works well, Avid/Digi must now imagine all the money they'll never see since they ignored LE users who have begged for ADC. They could have easily charged $50 for an ADC update.

Not bashin Digi, cuz I love my PTLE but damn, not havin ADC has been BS & most LE users (assumption) don't have $10K+ to drop on HD to get it! I have no idea how the licensing/RTAS thing works & maybe Digi gets a piece of ATA sales--whatever, I'm just glad Mellowmuse seems to have filled a HUGE void in LE land.

Not really trying to rain on the parade here; I'm loving the ATA and think it's great. But I'm hoping that PT8 (LE) doesn't become too much of a hog. I say this from past experience. When I moved from single to dual core, I had a window of time where the added power was fantastic. It wasn't long at all before new versions of PT and plugs ate up that power and I was "proportionately" right back where I was. Same thing at quad core. Now I have been enjoying 8 cores and not even approaching maxing out the CPU; even with many soft synths running during a mix. I certainly understand that everything progresses and changes; the power I have today won't last as things progress. So based on past experience, I can't help but wonder just how far PT8 will knock me back in the area of CPU usage. ATA has been great with no noticeable CPU overhead. Who knows what the Digidesign method and implementation will be like.

maybe the new RTAS version will be INCLUDED in the digi-rack plugin bundle in Version 8.0 .......that's after Mellowmuse gets some type of royalties.

Gary - i simply meant to convey that the video is old and not a current preview of the unwrapped RTAS development.

good times are just around the corner though -

ATA, coupled w/ the 10 plugin inserts improvement of PT8 will definitely bring a chorus of hallelujah from many PT users.. let's face it - for me it's (1) insert used up for ATA as well as a second insert used up for TRIM plug... this will still leave (8) inserts available... more than enough.

thanks! Gary for your hard work.

To each his own, but since Digi has stated that delay compensation won't initially be in PT 8, but be added at some "later" stage........what Mellowmuse charges is to me quite reasonable to have in the meantime. I wish all plugs were this useful yet reasonably priced........and I even got the FXpansion wrapper, too. Now I can play around with some VSTs in my spare time.

Really? Give the guy a break.

I can't wait for this ATA plug to be RTAS. I've been demoing the VST (wrapped) version and I'm absolutely loving it. Being able to run some of my outboard gear on and LE rig is pretty awesome. Now I wish I had more I/O.

I'm working on an update now that will get rid of the need for dry buses, it'll make it much easier and flexible to use.

Gary, that's great news. No bypassing sends, no dry auxes - great. When will your plugin do our mixes for us!

Any of you guys having problems getting this to work with Drumagog?

It doesn't seem to compensate for its latency.

2 - Drumgog solutions
1) Better Record down your Drumagog tracks when you see how bad Drumaog tracks you will probably prefer this as Drumagog floats quit a bit.
2) Used a fixed latency Drumagog then hard bypass it then add a time adjuster to simulate the Drumagog Latency - Ping - Deactivate Time Adjuster then Active Drumagog fixed Latency

-Use fixed latency
-Before pinging, leave Drumagog active (i.e. don't bypass it), but turn the blend knob all the way down to zero. This leaves Drumagog (and it's latency) running, but lets the original signal through to continue the ping. Don't forget to reset the blend knob to where you want it after the ping.

Thanks for the tips.

I'm actually using this is LE so I dont have the option of using fixed latency.

I'll give it a try.

You should... I'm in PT LE as well. After version 4.03 I think, Drumagog started offering a fixed latency version in addition to the regular version so delay compensation in DAWs with ADC would be easier. Now that us LE users can do delay compensation with the ATA, use the fixed latency version of Drumagog.
