Magnificent Sounding Lexicon 300 IR Library

Hi There,

just thought that I'd report that Acousticas has released their anticipated Lexicon 300 Impulse Responses.

I bought their EMT 245 IRs and have been using them ever since.

So today I got their Lexicon 300 IRs and loaded them up in Altiverb.

I had heard the demos on their website which I found incredible but that was nothing compared to what came out of my speakers today :-)

I have been using IR Plugs since they came out and every time someone were posting a Lexicon lib I went a got it. But I was never content with the sound.

Now - this library contains about 150 IRs - which have all been very well categorized and sorted. The sound is simply put - like my header says - Magnificent.

The warmth they add to the sound is just incredible and the stereo image of the processed sound is great. No - too much to left or right like with many of the others libs. Also, this lib does not sound unnatural in any kind of way - it is like pouring a bowl of soup over your sound.

The reverb times are ranging from 100 milliseconds to 64.1 seconds. YES - 64.1 seconds. I though to begin with - What on earth am I going to do with a reverb time above 4 seconds. Well, this lib sound awesome between 3.5 and 12.3 seconds. If you have ever looked for that Long reverb tail on the one bassdrum, snaredrum hit etc. then this is the one.. Man, that 64.1 sec verb is seriously sounding like something I would want to eat.

Anyway - you can check the demos here :

Welcome To Acousticas

Their website looks great, but leaves something to be desired for those trying to find out details.

Do you know if the impulses will work with TLSpace in Pro Tools TDM???

Thx.

Yes, I have them running in PT HD using TL Space. Really easy integration. As far as I remember - they even have a link to TL space on their web site.

Gotta say I really like the way their demo's are set up on the website.......and...they sound pretty good IMO. Might have to pick these up as I've got some serious mixing ahead of me next month.

Thx for the link.

This do sound really good! On the website it does say it uses a Protools Mod Delay on some of the patches but not which ones, so I wonder how much the delay is contributing to the sound.

well the mod delay presets are all supplied with lib. They are not inducing a delay simply utilizing the LFOs of the mod delay II. Like I said those presets are supplied with product. I use the mod delay presets all the time after the reverb and do so too with the emt245 library.

You said you tried different libraries... Have you tried the Best Service one? I think it's called "Halls of fame" and contains impulses from both the TC6000 and the 960L. I'm using Logic and hesitate between buying Altiverb or a set of good impulses to go with Space Designer first.

What would you recommend me?

right, I wasn't complaining. I don't use PT so I guess I would have to use an equivalent. I actually have 3 Nuverb cards (basically 300's) so I am interested in comparing these.

yes I have the halls of fame but let point out that IMO that name is very wrong for those impulses and the pricetag is reduculous.

I use logic too and this lib integrates perfectly with space designer.
The have supplied presets for the SD load menu. So no more stupid importing.
Plug n play. Space Designer sounds just as good as Altiverb and integrates perfectly
With logic so you could stick with that. I really like SD and use that whenever in logic

you can use any LFO to recreate what Acousticas does with ModDelayII it is simply a matter of knowing what values to dial in.

Just ordered them. Look forward to trying them out. Interesting that they refer to the L300 that the 480L tried to live up to it. I always thought it was the other way around right?

I have heard some guys say that too. I once owned a 960 and I never really liked that sound - especially compared to the 480.

The more I play around with this here library the more I am falling it love with it...
The 7.5 sec. hall is truly stunning on any kind of orchestra sound.

Will these impulse responses work with any other IR based reverb pluggin other than Altiverb within a Nuendo environment on OS X 10.5.5 - ie. VST?

Many thanks in advance.

Well, I dont use Cubase so I cant really tell you. But I would think that cubase could handle any convolution plug as VST. But I guess you would have to ask acousticas about that.

I bought the EMT Impulses and Im using them with the MelowMuse IR1A convolver and using the Cubase Mod delay plug.It would be hand if you could post a screen shot of the settings for the Logic Modulation so I can try and match them with the Cuabse one.
Gonna listen to the 300 impulses later Im sure they are great just like the EMT ones.

Looking at that mod delay it looks like the closest equivalent would be ModMachine in Cubendo.

Hi. First post...loooooong time info gatherer of great information on this site. Anyway. I bought the L300's after hearing the demos and I think they sound really good compared to other impulses I've tried. thumbsup

One thing that bothers me is why 25ghosts doesn't just come out and admit he's the guy, or at least a partner with Acouticas. It didn't take much googling to figure it out. A product usually speaks for itself and in my opinion it's a good product. You don't need to spam boards as an "enthusiastic customer" to hype it. It just leaves me with an uneasy feeling of being deceived. No harm done, just be real.

Carry on.

Is there a list of the presets that were done in the 300 lib? We are old Nuverb/300 users and wish to see if some of our faves made it into these IR's.
