I use a pair of Twins. It would be interesting to compare them.

I did, they had them set up in their booth for listening. I had no intention of looking at monitors, but after hearing Focals being used at many exhibitor's booths I went to the Focal tent and I'm now selling my NS-10Ms and Mackie's to buy a pair.

The new monitors are great and are made to go up against the new Genelecs. They are not made with the Beryllium tweeter and therefore are definitely lower end than the Solo's or the Twins. But, for the lower priced market, especially broadcast, they are an excellent alternative to Genelec which is the standard in that industry.

I was gonna say, I sell Focals/JM Labs at the audio file shop. Those look like the HF drivers used in the cheaper/entry level stuff.

What is impressive is that I may say is a kind of analog modelling, having different components the CMS sound is basically the Twin 6 Be sound! they have the same tone and balance! yes you could hear certain differences in the low end...but really impressive monitors for that price, and to have the same character and tone of the Twins/ Solo 6Be is just amazing....I wonder how they did it!kfh

I would not compare them with the Genelecs, I will not even bother myself doing that by any means, maybe from a market point of view...but as everybody here is interested on how they sound I will say it again...think about the Twins Be soundwith certain differences.

I guess you haven't used them yet. These things are awesome! Josh, if your mix sucks, these will tell you your mix sucks. Gen's will tell you there is no mid range in your audio. Comparing them to broadcast monitors in inaccurate. They do not compare. Try cutting GTRS with Gen's. The CMS are great speakers that are just as usable as the Solo's for a lower price point. Josh, it would seem from your post that your speculating about they're worth as speakers to the end user, and you might try using them on a mix or record something with them before you do so, because they actually have mid range detail and a lower octave response you can work with, unlike the monitors you've lumped them in with.

I think you need to re-read my post. There's no question they are better than Genelecs. What I said was that these new Focal monitors are going after the Genelec established broadcast market. Hopefully broadcast people will be switching over to these new Focals instead of continuing with monitors that IMHO are impossible to properly mix on.

Will these also work in studios and mix rooms? Absolutely. No question about it. Are they as good as the Solo's and Twins? No, but look at the price point. The new CMS line is an excellent way for people with a lower budget to get their hands on wonderful monitors.

It's interesting how you've tried to discredit me on this, especially since I've been carrying Focal and using the monitors long before Mercenary got involved. Give Simon a call and ask him if the statement I made is exactly what we discussed after his briefing to me on these new monitors.

Discredit you? You do a pretty good job of that yourself. I would argue that your comparison makes you look as though you have not used the CMS yet, which is why I called you out on it. We all know "better" or "worse" comparisons strictly based on a price point is dumb, and YOU are discrediting Focal, when you talk about price point only, and NOT what the speakers sound like.
