Uh oh, not sure how useful the De-esser will be without being able to adjust the freq :/

Jim we need one more knob here .........

Can't wait to try the de-ploser, tired of doing that manually when I get problem tracks.

new firmware for Classic is 2.19. Just successfully ran all the updates, but my day is over and it's time to make dinner.

nb: hoping the kernel panic issue is resolved too!

ok, just attempted to kernel panic my system...

turned duende on, put macbook pro to sleep, shut off duende while macbook pro was asleep and then woke macbook pro (with the lid). then turned duende off and back on one more time.

no kernel panics!!!!

not guaranteeing that the problem is solved until I test some more, but so far so good - that procedure (or part of it) would almost always cause a panic in the past.

it didn't fix the kernel panics for me unfortunately.
Still happens any time I cycle power on Duende (including when the firmware updater asks you to cycle power). Instant kernel.

I've only tried it the one time, I'll give it a go again soon and see what happens. Might have just gotten lucky that time...

Vocalstrip price is 399. But do you have any idea how to demo it? I bought classic few months ago and obviously it doesn't have that 10hour demo with it? Is it downloadable from somwhere?

Anybody?

cheers,
C

it will be installed when you install the newest Duende software/firmware. download that from solid-state-logic.com.

well, it disappoints me like drumstrip. the desser and deploser are a gimmick.

they should fix all problems first, before they release plugs...

i tried it out for a small song I mixed. I'm impressed!

The deesser is great, and the de-plosive is good too.

Not to sure about the compressor yet though, initially I didn't like the compression, but as all the other duende plugs, very clean sounding.

Tried it last night, briefly - I like it. Will dive into it more later this week.

The new drivers are solid and it loads even quicker than before. Seems that with each new release the plugins load a bit faster.

I have been using this plug-in for a couple of weeks now as it's my job

I'm not trying to be a TV commercial, but this has something I've been looking for in a plug-in for some time. I'm working on an album outside of my SSL job right now, and a few of the vocal tracks I've got going have definitely been immediately helped by VocalStrip. I've really taken to the de-esser and the Gain feature on the Compander.

My former "chain" to get a similar result was: Steinberg De-Esser > SSL EQ & Dynamics Channel > Super CamelPhat. Occasionally I also used the UAD-1 1176 model at times as well. Let's just say that a stock Cubase/Nuendo plug starting the chain pretty much laid it out right there.

I don't need to be an SSL guy to be an SSL guy

An SSL guy admitting that he uses a lot of other brands??? That may not make you the best salesperson for SSL, but it's easy for me to believe you after admitting that. But I don't need your opinion - I've tried it, and I dig it!

The de-esser is really subtle and doesn't display the artifacts were used to from de-essers.

When pushed too hard it will sound crap and artificial - albeit in a different way than normal de-essers.

Bsed with care I really like it and find it much less intrusive than other de-essers I've used.

It kinda reminds of the SPL de-esser which I have been missing dearly since my OS9 days.

If you want more 'character' from the compressor try hitting the 'drive' switch. It won't lose the SSL-clarity-thing but that's a good - if you like that sort of thing
