Burl makes a DAC

I imagine the price will be over $2000, and maybe over $3000...

But I really like the work done on the 2192 DAC, that is world class (same talent, I understand). Thing is, this to me is probably going to be the DAC that you want to send your 2-bus out (after digital summing, of course

), process with your best two channels of outboard, and bring it back in (via your ADC of choice), and then use a neutral DAC for monitoring the digitized final.

I don't believe you should monitor out a colored DAC because most of your listeners aren't going to plunk down three large for a Burl of their own, sadly...

Actually no as it turns out. The literature was misleading. The Burl DAC does not have the transformers of the ADC. It's a very clean circuit with the latest AKM chip in it.

I wasn't able to hear it but I won't be at all surprised if it represents the new generation of DACs. It may well be an outstanding monitoring DAC. I would be fascinated to hear how it stacks up vs. the best in the business.

~$3000 is right.
