ProRemote - iPhone and ProTools

It's up at the apple store...

ProRemote - Far Out Labs

Lite version is $39 and full version is $149 - seems too pricey.. but cool.

I agree - price is WAY too high. I feel bad because the guy put a crapload of time into this app, and I'm sure it's very good at what it does, but few people will spill the cash to actually buy it.

Maybe you guys charge to much for your engineering and should slash prices by a third? Too expensive.

Seriously, I'd be interested in the Lite version when it becomes compatible with Win Nuendo. I have been wanting something like this when I record solo and have to go downstairs in the isoroom.

I agree, seems a BIT expensive. I think they may have gone a bit too high and wont sell as many. I t has to be a hard thing to figure out. The time spent, versus price people will pay, and how many will buy at what price point. Oh well. I still want it. But will wait a bit and see if the price comes down a bit.

$25 - $30 would be more appropriate IMHO.

They'd surely sell more units that way.

At their asking price point I see only ballers buying it just to look flashy.

I hope I'm wrong, and wish them all the best regardless.

Some mad hours must have gone into the development that would be nice to re-coup.

If you have an ICON, ProControl or C24 you can't use it Protools only allows ONE remote at a time.

thats so true

also think its not that difficult if you know how the SDK programs work
meaning you don't need 20 people working on this app for 24/7 in 6 months
(could be wrong i'm just learning about how the SDK works)

take a look at beatmaker now thats an app which is harder to make i think and cost only $19,99

now i'm not saying proremote is a bad product but its just way to overpriced
sell it around $19,99 for full version and the sales will go thru the roof

I agree - waaaay to expensive. I would definitely by this app for $19.99 though. I reckon if he drops the price to around $20, he will sell thousands and thousands.

Kinda pricey but....

Fronteir Tranzport costs $199 - no screen, less control. (great unit I own one)

Euphonix MC Control $1499 with a similar concept and no wireless.

I agree $149 is too much but surely $20 is too little.

Esp. When they have games etc. for $9.99 that have no practical function other than recreation.

You could bring your iphone in the booth and record yourself with the most control I have seen on a device to date.

**** I don't own it and haven't used it - I do own an iphone and have seen the vids though****

That is really awesome to see what they can do with this device since is fully internet capable and apple integrated.

There shouldn't be a problem making a transport control for mac OSX. A "breeze" using it as a little touch screen-mixer control surface !!!(ejaculating from the excitement)dfegad

Actually this device (iphone) costs 199$ and if you want to get a used one just to use it as a transport control surface only, you can get it for much less(previous version available on craigslist)

I would pay 200$ just to be able to control Transport in Cubase4 and I don't want to have an extra box sitting on my desk such as Tranz-Port. Too many boxes for different things in studio looks chaotic and unprofessional. So, soon enough, everyone will want to make money writing 3rd party apps for iPhone, and the market is pretty much over-abundant with the programmer rats. And it is even easy to get into developing for iPhone. Oh, I like the idea that this device is pissing of so many "great" engineers out here, but this is definitely change the aproach we think and do stuff. That makes me so happy (ejaculated)
100 years ago, when they made industrial machines for certain things, lot of people lost their jobs and same is happening today with engineers from 80's and 90's. They can talk all they want about how technical and experienced they are, and they should know that new generation of baby boomers is growing up on DIGITAL world only, not analog.
That makes them pissed of and jealous, I have witnessed this in so many real-world situations. Same as Gallileo have claimed that the sun is a star, people got pissed at him and burned him. Todays engineers will try anything to keep their noses up. Time will do it's thing.

Go, Go, Apple, make more iPhones !

Hmmm..

Very interesting and cool.. until a band full of clients comes in with their Iphones and each wants a crack at your mix from the couch. (:

Now, your PT rig is the video game for wide-eyed band members!!

you name things that are totally not the same
if you would compare it to lets say a jazzmutant than ok i see your point
but this is an app for the iphone with a very tiny screen so you never use it for a big project
it doesn't have any other controlls plus its not the device your buying but just the software

and believe me there will lots of these types of apps in the near future
especially when the itablet is available

and i really don't get it
make it an exceptable price and we all buy it (knowing you're watching... you'll be a rich man)

I hear you that they are different devices, but they are for the same applications.

I might have bought the software over my transport if they were available at the same time. -- At least for what I use it for.

It sounded like a great idea till I remembered that I have to set my iPhone on Airplane Mode whenever I record. It has the loudest phone RFI of any phone I've ever encountered.

You can use the 'free' VNC software available for the iPhone, which obviously has other advantages as well... I think it's called Mocha VNC Lite.. (there's a paid version that has many more features and is still a lot cheaper than this one trick pony)

I believe - in fact, I'm sure - that you can turn on WiFi even while having it in flight mode. WiFi does not interfere audibly, from what I've experienced.

I don't have an iPhone or iPod touch, but I would consider getting one just for this app. It would be a lifesaver when I'm recording by myself (which is often).

However, $299+149??? Give me a break.
I could absorb even an extra 50 on top of the iPod, but nearly 500 bucks for the whole package........No thanks.
So there's another market out for this company, engineers who don't already own an iPhone. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

(big sigh)
