Thumbs up Max Gutnik Joins Digidesign

DALY CITY, Calif., (June 6, 2008)—Digidesign, a part of Avid Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: AVID), today announced the appointment of Max Gutnik to the position of Marketing Manager, Professional Products. In his new position, Gutnik will lead the marketing team in developing and implementing marketing strategies for Digidesign’s successful line of professional recording, post production and broadcast products including Pro Tools|HD® and ICON integrated consoles.

Gutnik joins Digidesign from his position as Director of Sales and Marketing at Apogee Electronics, where he was instrumental in developing several of the company’s acclaimed product lines. A successful musician, music instructor and recording artist, Gutnik has also held high-profile positions in retail with Sweetwater Sound and Guitar Center.

“We’re truly pleased to welcome Max on board,” remarked Paul Foeckler, Digidesign’s vice president of sales and marketing. “His tremendous industry experience and proven track record for launching and marketing a wide range of professional audio products will be valuable as we look for opportunities to serve and grow our customer base within the professional audio community.”

“For me, Digidesign products have long represented the benchmark for professional audio production technology,” stated Gutnik. “As a long-time Pro Tools user, I’ve found that the program combines an unrivaled feature set with an intuitive workflow that is far beyond any other audio software. This balance perfectly reflects Digidesign’s dedication to delivering the highest levels of performance and technical innovation to its customers. Those are values truly in line with my own, and I’m extremely pleased to be a part of the Digidesign team.”

Max... if you tell us about what's next, like, oh I don't know - a "pro native solution"? We won't tell anyone.

Micah I did chat to Danny from Digi at Potluck Con and asked him if they were still considering a middle ground option between LE and HD and he confirmed that Digi are still investigating it... I didn't push him, but at least it nice to know it is still on the discussion table.

Max, congratulations on your new post and nice to see you hanging around these parts.

Cheers

Matt

Wow!

They just employed good people.

Always had regard for your posts and conduct on Gearslutz Max. I guess you will be championing a new cause now though...

All the best - and keep pushing that mid range Native Pro Solution, yeah that's right, a solution - for both us and them.

Thanks, Noise,

The cause is the same - make great products that inspire and enable great works - The means of getting there has changed. The big thing for me is having hardware and software under one roof - the innovations Digidesign is capable of is off the charts, because they design the "whole wigit". Makes for a very exciting stuff.

Digi does not need to upgrade it's marketing, they need to upgrade their hardware! It is unbelievable that they do not see what everyone in this forum seems to see!

Hi Max.

As an LE user I´m wondering if you where involved with the Duet card, and if so your expertice will benefit future LE hardwareproducts, like a Digi004 or Mbox3 with apogee-class audioquality.

Seems like a logical move for Digi, to prepare the strategy for the launch of a new line!

The AIR stuff is very impressive.
(Just do something about the 3rd party support or lack thereof for Structure.)

Hi Max,

congratulations and all the best from Bavaria. How about skipping this "between LE and HD" discussion....and talk about a "PT A-Powered" ? Ensemble as frontend for LE without 003 or whatever workarrounds would be a great thing..whoelse then you could better comment on this one :-)

cheers markus

Cool down Mr. TRS,

nice to hear you are glad with your actual setup. Remember that this is gearslutz and we speak about gear here! Digi's gear isn't as hot as it was years ago! Perhaps the integraton of hardware without latency is still something real happy and the performance with so many outputs at once, but...

- where is the support for AU or VST plugins? They are not worse then the RTAS and TDM stuff and some of them are not available for ProTools

- why shold we still need to buy so many accel cards for plugin processing? Native systems can calculate much more plugins!

Also I think Digi should stop to implement the limitations on their LE systems!

I know ProTools and it has a nice concept. But today there are also other ways to make good sounding records!

Really ?

Do a search on plugin delay compensation in protools LE and you'll probably come up with hundreds, if not thousands of complaints about the lack of this feature.

I know your new but I don't suppose you could um... maybe "spearhead" an initiative based on this "valuable resource for feedback and discussion" and just add the one feature that probably stops literally thousands of people from going with protools?

I know I'd switch in a heartbeat.

You would certainly make a lot of friends in the industry

.... maybe I'm been to radical here?

Yeah Digi are being really Dumb-Ass with this deliberate restriction.

No not radical at all, I would even say that your ubiquitous opinion is rather archaic now - it's become an age-old feeling. Many users have felt this way for what seems like forever...sadly.

It is truly dis-heartning to observe such a regressive company policy, especially with the software market the way it is now. I have often wondered if there were some method to their madness (beyond the desire to 'protect' their HD user base and contain their market share) I still smell the unhealthy stench of clumsy, outmoded, unresponsive retrograde thinking.

What I do expect is - 'hey it's our all new Digi LE unbundled, ready-to-go, no dongle with added milk and sugar but, still CRIPPLED wtih no PDC'.

Hmm...

I need more sugar please.....nah - still tastes sh*t!
