Anyone know anything about the new "cute" SSL desk mentioned in passing here....

eccentricblog - Watch your back…here comes that old inflation thing again.

I wanna tell ya, but I can't, I would get in too much trouble. The blog at Funky Junk is correct.

I'm in search of a cute useable console.
Though I've never been a diehard for the SSL sound or the lack of,
that very 'lack of' may put me in the market for this over
mass produced affordables with more questionable signal paths.
At the price point I'm looking for
no sound may be the best sound.
Bring the hype.
I'll listen.

Cool

SSL had to respond to demand for a console in the home/project-studio market/budget. I'm so excited to learn what this smaller AWS900 is...

I'd rather have a Neve Genesys than an SSL any day.

This thread is about CHEAP
and the cited blog article that started this all
is hoping and calling for the big name manufacturers to take the turn
and make high quality gear for lower prices in these times
of lower recording budgets and reduced sales profits.
What that has to do with a Neve Genesys that no one's yet heard is
way way beyond my comprehension.
I'd rather have a friggin 8078 but
were talking about cheap and cute here.
A Neve is expensive and a slutty *****.
Far from cute.

I'm sure if there was a new product they would have told me about it

Maybe there keeping it away from me?

A number of products have been asked for by various people over time.

Their opinions are highly valued by our development team.

Realistically we are always trying to develop new ideas that will appeal.

I personally find this a very interesting area to work on.

X-Ray specs would allow me to peer into the secret R+D lab tutt

SSL in NLP shock?
I have heard rumours for quite a while but not quite sure what exactly is coming out.
I reckon it might be worth going to the show plus I wanna check out some guitars as well.

Hurrah for Easyjet!

We'll at least SSL will now be selling boards like SSL sounds.
I would not use an SSL console no matter what the cost but that's just me.

is everyone talking about the aws 900? if so i tryed it at namm and its pretty neat little thing i tihnk $50K im not sure but you can switch between E and G series eq and other cool thing as well as use it with any sound editor youd like, althought SSL is not my prefered medicine for the price and performance its good, if i had more cash to spend id be looking at the API 1608 or The NEve gensys as well...cant go wrong with either one...but they cost more unfortunaly

I wonder how expensive? Releasing something that competes with the API 1608 would be cool, but releasing something that competes with the Toft ATB would be awesome!

acutally i also had a go at the toft atb at namm08 in all honesty i liked the eq section of that better than the ssl aws 900 which is the same as the 4000 series....for $4k its a stealer but it cant do all the tasks a aws 900 can do but you could live without the ssl...the toft kicks butt

Nope, it's not the AWS900. That's been out for a couple years already.

So they're making a controller and not a mini console? And I noticed you also pleuralized controller. Hopefully that means a home studio version for us who can't afford an Icon. A Duende controller perhaps?

actually, re genesys from what i read in another thread here at gs, a fairly loaded one with cassettes that make the board cool, bump it up to the aws900s range, at about $90k.
