demoing this now... as much as i don't want another compressor plug in.. it's really impressive... the M/S mode can really bring things to life..

couple of complaints though.. i don't like having a "regular" GR meter... that scrolling waveform just goes by too fast and it's hard to know what's going on.. i'm used to looking at a GR meter for getting a general idea of where i'm at.

also, the M/S knobs.. inner and outer ring knobs.. are a bit confusing.. they're implementation of M/S definitely requires a few reads of the manual to know how to use it.

pretty nice piece of kit, though.

The Pro C can be so smooth. It wont get aggressive though. The m/s is awesome. It sounds good on everything but is not full of character. I like to put Colortone Pro after it.

Thread resurrection!

I got to use Fabfilter's Pro-C compressor over the week and here is what I have found:

This compressor is absolutely beautiful as a channel comp. Set it to Clean and hard knee and you easily get that Neve comp pop and snap. Set it to Classic / Soft and you have a FET style sound ala 1176. Set it to Clean / Soft and you have something very close to that awesome Over Easy mode dbx has that makes kick drums sound so good.

Overall it is a very nice, low overhead, and easy to use compression plugin. I was rather impressed. For a lot of things the Cubase compressor does me just fine, but I think this thing is pretty cool.

Its one of only a few comps where the autogain actually works well. Such a well-made tool!
