New updated "Design Your Own Cable" page now open at Redco.com

First, let me thank all the great support the "slutz" have given us at Redco. We truly appreciate all the business and the kind words (and even the sometimes less-than-kind but helpful criticisms!).

Our popular "Design Your Own Cable" page on our website just got an update. The Multi Channel Page now allows different types of connectors on each side.

Need an AES Dsub/Female AND Male XLR breakout cable? Now our page can handle it.

Want a 16ch snake with 2 Dsubs on one side and 8 XLR, 4 TRS and 4 RCA on the other side. No problem!

The page now shows a running tally of all the choices you make while building the cable. It also now lets you reset just one side of the cable, or the whole page in order to make partial or whole changes.

Check it out here and let us know what you think. Many of these design updates are the results of helpful comments from people here, so any comments are welcome.

Thanks for your time,
Chris Stubbs

Outstanding v2. I'm going to be placing an order soon.

If I can make a suggestion:
When you select a cable > select length > select ends > etc... if you go back to the top and change the cable, (ex. compare 16 ch Redco vs. 16 ch Mogami) everything always resets. If you could come up with a way for everything to stay with the previously selected input settings unless the "Reset My Choices" button was selected, that would be VERY helpfull.

Thanks,

JFW

Hold the Phone!

Looks like we jumped the gun here. We found a glitch in the Weight Calculation part of the new page and had to put the old page up while we troubleshoot.

I know the audio world is devastated by this, but we'll have her back up and running soon, I promise.

Thanks,
Chris

I'm looking for D-Sub to 75ohm coax on BNC for my DSD work. All I can find are the 110 ohm AES/EBU cables. Do you make these Chris?

Thanks,
Bruce

Pardon my ignorance, but how do you dial up a plain old mic cable on this contraption? Thanks!

- sorry, just read the muti-channel part. I thought you were revamping the thing altogether, so you didn't lose your other settings when you change the cable type...

- in other words - nevermind!

Just ordered a 16ch TRS snake from y'all.

I believe I will be using the create-a-cable a good bit. No more strange adaptors for me!

Thanks

The system is great, but it has bugs when checking out for international orders. Too bad.

I had to deal with Chris Stubbs via e-mail to complete the order.

By the way, I did my order 8 days ago and I still don't have a tracking number.

Hello Chris

its great - but when I tried to put together a 3 foot long, 24 way, d-sub, mogami snake, it kept stopping me ordering by stating:

The page at Redco Audio says:You must use all available Side A channels. Use the Blunt End option to specify 'No Channel'

I had used all channels!

All the best

I just tested this cable online and it worked fine. I can only think you may not have hit the buttons on the page correctly.

When making a 24ch cable with Dsubs, make sure you put a quatity of "3" for the connectors, as each Dsub handles 8 channels.

After this, you must hit the ADD CONNECTOR button as your connector choice will not register without hitting this button.

Follow the same instructions for each side of the cable, making sure to add the proper number of connectors needed to fill each side.

As always, any question can be directed to me directly at Redco.

Thanks,
Chris Stubbs

Thanks for looking into this, but I did definitely I use all available channels!

I've included a link to a movie of this error:

http://www.emremusic.com/redco2small.mov

I think it may just be a problem with Firefox, as when I completed the same order with Safari, it worked fine! Its 100% repeatable with Firefox as the browser though.

All the best, and again, its a great feature!!

Pleasure!! Its a great site and you'll be getting my order as soon as I've specced out my patchbay!!

Do you have any problems shipping to the UK and if not could you include and overseas shipping estimate somewhere on the page?

All the very best

Great site! But spare a thought for us non Anglo-Saxons with no idea what xx feet are. Some additional metric lengths would be sooo nice! (or a converter somewhere on the site).

Toolskid: We can ship to the UK no problem. If you put items into a shopping cart and type in your billing/shipping address, you can choose UPS, FEDEX or USPS from the shipping menu. The next page will give you all the prices for that carrier before asking for payment so you can decide which shipping to use.

Yannock: Ask and ye shall receive. I've added a link underneath the "Length" field on all the "Design A Cable" pages that gets you to a converter to change your metric lengths to our non-metric lengths, as our page can only price in footage or divisions thereof.

Hope this helps!

Thanks,
Chris Stubbs

Made a purchase online, 4 single channel cables. I love the idea of "building your custom cables" online and seemingly at a great price. I wasn't too thrilled about taking a whole week to ship out. And the shipping was awfully expensive for a "2 lb" package with Express Saver that will take 5 full days to get here on the same coast. But other than that I look forward to trying out these cables, even though now I am going to have to go out to Banjo Center and buy some other cables since I need them this weekend.

Chris is a very nice guy. Redco is the shit. I can recommend him to everyone. Especially to all Swiss GS, it's not worth to pay double till three times the price in Switzerland.

Pretty cool the new site. Just checked it for fun and notice only one little thing that'd be nice to have:

If you choose several different plugs the website doesn't show all connectors accurately.

And a picture of the connector that you have chosen and under it the ordered amount. That'd be also veeeery nice. Just for the overview, it'd help.

Thanks for the kind words, all.

The page does show a running list of all the combination of connectors you choose in the Product description window. This is about as exact as we can make the list. Putting pics next to every connector choice would clutter the page too much, although I can appreciate the thought.

Thanks to everyone for the help and ideas on this page. Look for a Snake Box version of this page coming soon.......

Redco really is topshelf. I f'd up a cable order. Chris called me because the cables I ordered looked fishy (FXLR on both ends?). Saved me a headache.
redco gets a bump from me...
