Brilliant! This will harmonize just fine with the existing Pacifica in my rack.

No. It's a different unit. The A500 was a re-badged Avedis R52. This is not an Avedis product.

The only drawback I see to this is some of the Buzz stuff(elixir maybe) and preamps like the new great river and shadow hills stuff won't fit but still way cool. Didn't Shadow Hills come out with a 2 space 500 series pre or did I just imagine that?

FWIW, I thought I should mention that we just got a prototype rack in the studio for evaluation, so if you all have any questions about it I would be happy to answer to the best of my abilities.

So far it seems like a bulletproof, no nonsense unit, just like what we're used to from A Designs. We put a pair of the EM-PEQ's in it (awesome, like I said earlier), the modules sit in it just fine and everything works great.

The one we have looks similar to the one in the photograph, kind of a battleship grey colour, but from what I understand they are changing the colour of it and adding some extra silkscreening on the back. Either way, we dig the no-frills look of it, looks really nice once you pop your modules in it.

please A-Designs....NOT red or blue or cream. make it black, silver or grey.

not that it matters.....i'd get it even if it was fluorescent pink.

i think shadow hills has one in the works but not sure if it is done yet.
also for those who are looking for something that takes more then one slot space most likely will need something along the lines of a lunchbox or something like what nathan and tim has come out with.

I remember hearing that Shadow Hills was coming out with a console. Does anyone know if this ever happened?

Cool thing about this, is that the price is low enough for it to really make sense to "build your own channel strip"
