I have the drawings of the new 1608, and it looks like it's gonna be a BIG hit!

We are going to have it as well, but it's still a little pre-mature to be advertising it.

It hasn't even been "officially confirmed or acknowledged" by API.

This is something to look forward to in the near future, though.

I may on occasion talk about some of the products I am a dealer for in my posts.. and that's OK! I sell them because I like them. Not vice versa. It's more fun to talk about things you know and love, then things you don't.

Hey Guys

That is not a 1604 or a 1608. That's a vintage API broadcast desk that was totally reworked by Primal Gear. That desk has nothing to do with current API other than the monitor section which contains 1 8200 and 1 8200A line mixers. If you want more info on that API contact us at info@primalgear.com it is currently up for sale again.

I am the tech that reworked that desk those photos are of. It is not really similiar to a 1604 desk. It has individual 512A mic pre's and individual custom routing cards, unlike a 1604 or 2488 style console.

Thanks
Justin Herlocker

I'm amazed that so many people are begging for a 500 series desk, and aren't paying attention to the Primal Gear desk.

It appears that they removed this from their list. Hmmm...

API 1608

Just saw the 100% working prototype today. Powered up lights and all.
It's a 1608 alright and freakin brilliant!
I was told additional buckets of 16 will be available!

550b's and 560's and 525 compressors. But I'm sure it can be configured however you like. BTW, it looks awesome! It's going to be a smash hit.

I just hope they'll also be offering a (partly) empty frame, for all those who already have the modules but want a bunch of faders and a bussing system to drop them into.

It still hasn't been officially confirmed by API... That's why it's not on their site.

What do you want to know about it?

I'd like to know if it will include pres in card form like the original 312's, or whether there will be 500 series spaces for the pres on each channel, in addition to the spaces for the EQs/comps, so that preamp modules from other manufacturers can be installed.

I'd also like to know if there will be a minumum limit to the number of API's 500 modules that have to be purchased with the console, or if it can be bought "empty".

I really hope API brings this to life, and that it's 500 series compatible.
