Does DUY plan to release DaD Tape for native WIN XP?

I've been testing DaD Tape demo on my Mac even though I normally use Sonar on XP (I'm sold on 64-bit mixing). I'd prefer to stay with Sonar and not revise my studio into a Mac-based situation. Does anybody have any idea what DUY's company philosophy might be regarding the future release of DaD Tape for native WIN XP? I'd be willing to wait a few months if I knew they were going to release it. And if someone knows that they are basically opposed to doing this, that would be good to know too. Then I guess I'd move on to the Mac. Like a lot of people, I've been waiting for a serious native tape emulation for a long time and now it's here. I want to use it.

Yes. That's the idea I'm getting but I have no factual basis for this. But if you look at economics they are releasing stuff to the high price systems first (PT) and the next highest price system second (Mac). You may have identified a pattern here. My guess would be Windows never.

Thanks for that tip. I found the demo through KVR and I'm going to check it out. This could be the way to go. What I don't understand is: can you buy just the analoge VST bundle or do you have to buy Sequoia or Samplitude in order to get these? If you know where to buy this bundle, please let me know. Maybe I'm just not searching correctly, but I find no obvious way to buy these.

Well, am-track looked good and I was hopeful that a PC tape emulator could finally be had. But alas, upon listening, I found it to be not very good. I've got PSP mix saturator up on some tracks and am-track is inferior to that as far as I can tell (I'm speaking strictly about the tape saturation part of it). And when I A/B it with DaD Tape processing the same file, the DaD is clearly much better. DaD sounds like tape to me. am-track sounds like a not-so-good Vintage Warmer. It seems to introduce a type of distortion as opposed to the smoothing of a tape emulation. This is just my opinion. Others may be able to get something out of this plug.

i agree...it doesnt sound like tape...it sounds like a exaggerated tape effect...even if the controls are set to low..

who cares..their stuff is ancient

They dont have anything VST doesnt have at a 1/4 of the price. Why sell in the VST world where people demand lower prices when they can just rip people off on Macs?

I can't understand the logic of not programming for VST and PC. There is a huge userbase, I know a lot of crack users.......but still worth it considering there are a lot of software developers out there that make a living off VST pc effects.

i've always wondered that as well. If you want decent Tape emu on VST go with Colortone Pro.

Smile DUY DaD Tape available for Windows RTAS users

Dear Marsbot and all,

I'm pleased to announce that DUY DaD Tape has just been released for Windows RTAS users. A demo can be downloaded from our website, and users who currently have EverPack for Windows can include DaD Tape at a special upgrade price.

Windows RTAS users who don't have any of our plug-ins may also get a bundle of DaD Tape + EverPack at a special price. This package includes DaD Tape, DaD Valve, DUY Wide, Max DUY, DUY Shape and the Z-Room reverb.

Full news at www.duy.com

I hope this satisfies all our Windows users who had been asking for this plug-in to be made for Windows XP RTAS for a long time!!

Best regards

Xavi

Hey that is great news, and now for the inevitable question....

Can we expect a VST version anytime in the near future ?

Hi, True North!

I can already guarantee you that the only Windows version of DaD Tape is this RTAS version... We don't expect to make a VST version for Windows.

Best regards

I haven't worked with tape (maybe once or twice), but VW doesn't sound like tape to me. I like it, but it ain't tape.

Voxengo's TapeBuss still gets most positive reviews in VST-land methinks.
